Bought some it the other day on the starsider server. Looks pretty good. It gives +10 to experimentation for the next experimentation that I do. However, after using it I have noticed no change in the either my experimentation skill value in Cnrtl C under skills , and, I did not have a extra experimentation box in making items. Any ideas? Does i actaully take 20 points to get another box? And is this not showing up under skill modifiers?

Here's how I think it works:
When experimenting, the type of success (amazing, great, moderate, failure, crit fail) depends on your assembly/experimentation skills, (possibly) the effectiveness of the tool, (possibly) the effectiveness of the station, (probably) the "research specialization" bonus of a player city, and a random factor. Better skills, tools, stations, and city speicalization shifts the odds towards the higher end of the spectrum. Bespin port is an additional bonus to this system, so your +10 isn't really a skill modifier, it's just stacking the deck more in your favor. I seem to remember seeing that the research specialization added +15
It's been hard for me to test this, since that random factor is still in there. Plus, as a Master Chef I see mostly Great successes anyway. I'd be interested in seeing how this helps someone who isn't too high up a crafting profession. I know my TC character was getting horrible experiment results until I got enough xp for a couple Cooking boxes.

I have seen a substantial amount of Amazing Successes well on port, way more then I would have ever expected to see just crafting, so I believe this drink is doing it's jobe. I have no proof or statistics to back me up on this claim, only personal beleif and experience, but I know for now I will continue to use this, and if someone doesn't post stats here soon I may go out and get them.

Ah, that makes sense then. I am a Master Doctor on my server. And yes, I moslty get great or amazing successes also. I guess the description should have been +10% to experimentation outcome... and not +10 to your next experimentation. Either way, it will be difficult for me to test if its working since I am already a Master Doc. I appreciate your fast response. I suppose I'll try to sell this stuff to some lower level folks who will benefit from it. Bad thing is I bought a crate of this stuff.
I wish the product could have been worded a different way though. No big deal I suppose. I'm wealthy enough to take the 150k hit.

And I've seen zero amazing successes, but three critical failures, while using port. Unfortunately there's no real way to find out if port is helping, useless, or actually hurting without running an experiment in the 100s of attempts, probably more. Naturally all other conditions (station, tool, city, etc.) would need to be constant.. which is to say, we'll probably never know.

Yeah, badly worded. It does NOT add to your experimentation skill, but may add to your chance of getting an amazing success.
So much for an alternative to 3rd-party-afk-macro-looted tapes for 2 million a point from the Bat Cave
