1. The only good fruit in the galaxy is on Dathomir.

2. My squishy, squiddy azz won't last ten minutes outside the science outpost.

Advice, thoughts, lessons for me to learn?

Well, other than ditto-ing Saitek's suggestion, here's a couple of things that's kept my fuzzy, flabby Bothan butt out of trouble. I haven't made it out to Dath, but it got me around Dantooine without too many clones:

1) Every once in a while, drop down to a walk (hit shift on the standard keymap). This should reduce the thrilling "10 red dots suddenly appearing on myradar 5 meters away" events.

2) Always be ready to burst run. If a mob aggros you, burst out of there, spamming "peace" as fast as you can click. Once you're out of combat, find a spot without any mobs around and sit there until you're no longer tired (ten minutes). I use this time to grind out Mists.

3) If you get to your harvesters and mobs are close by, target the closest one. This will give you the distance to the creature. They usually don't notice you unless you get closer than 40 meters (that's when the '?' '!' '\|/' progression starts). If you must get closer than 40 meters, try going prone and crawling towards your harvester. This makes it less likely they'll notice you, and you may be able to get in and out safely. Although Bothan's get a +15 camoflauge bonus, so that may be what is saving me. Or just wait for them to leave, although that can be a while.

4) Have pool-buffing foods in your hotbar. Unless you're getting one-shotted, you can use things like Flameouts (+1000 health) to give you a temporary "heal". If you're down to 100 current health, drinking a Flameout will bump you to 1100, giving you more time to escape. Unless they changed the insta-buff in today's patch, in which case you're in trouble without medic skills. Just be careful to be above 1000 health when it wears off, since (again unless this changed) the -1000 debuff gets put onto your current health whether you've got 1001 (putting you to 1) or 999 (putting you to -1, incapping you). Now, if they capped the debuff to only reduce you to 1, there will be much rejoicing.

Great suggestions kriles!

I would add:

1) Get a good suit of composite sliced for HAM or whatever armor you can afford. you're not going to be spamming specials so just keep it on until you are in a safe spot then take it off to recover your stats (make a macro and this will be easy). good armor reduces damage and allows you to burst out of there if you weren't paying attention and suddenly find yourself attacked. Go ahead and migrate your stats around to wear it Its not like we need em to make food .

2)Longer term, but pick up some scout experience but only worry about Terrain negotiation and Burst run efficiency. Maybe get hunting I or II first so the exp grind is a little quicker (can always surrender them - but they are also useful formeat . (if you have the skill points of course) .

2a) pick up novice medic (at least)and find some advanced stim B's. put one on your toolbar. A combination of stimpacks and Mind and Willpower food (Ice blasters, durindfires etc. are fine if you can't yet make vercupti and fishak)

3) make sure your radar is extended to 256 at least... lairs appear first as yellow squares on radar. if you see one, slow down and see if reds spawnaround it or no...

4) there often seems to be a "ring" of red on the adv planets surrounding the ports... once you get outside of it you can sometimes go for long distances without seeing critters.

5) Most critters will respond to"peace" and you may not even need to blow your burst run... I try to use mine only as a last resort because once I do I am pretty rigorous about finding a place to rest until I am "no longer tired"

6) get a probot. not so much to be aggressive but if its following you and protecting you, when you get attacked it will draw fire most of the time. just run away and sacrifice a little vitality on the droid. no biggie

6a) likewise a pet (but I feel less guilty about abandoning a chunk o metal ) plus the probats can be a food crafting station, additional storage, a mobile hospital etc.

7) worst case there aren't that many mobs that actually want to kill you. maybe 25-30%? haven't tested this out too much but just when I think its a one way ticket back to outpost X on the clone train, they come sniff me and then go away

8) get buffed by a doc in the coronet or theed before the trip (costly but very nice). You'll feel like UBER FISH!

9) hire a mercenary or 2. HAd mixed success with this but sometimes great results, especially when I discover a spawn on the max concentration....

and

10) if there are critters on your harvs or on the sweet spot for placement, just wait. mark the point, come back in 4-6 hours and they will very likely be long gone.

Hope that helps Hero

Get a combat skill? Actually, that doesnt necessarily help, as i am a master pikeman working on master chef, and if more than one thing prepatch (seems more than two today) attacks me, I'm going down. I am fortunate to have several R/T friends who play, so when i need to go to survey/harvest stuff on outter rim planets, i talk them into rallying up a hunting party and i tag along. Pikeman helps, but i get by with a little help from my friends.
