I actually had the same problem and realized that only a couple items would give me chef xp...i can tell you that the alcohol will give xp, but not much. I would like to know if anyone else is having this problem or have any answers.
Exactly...alcoholwas what I had to grind to get the first box. NOTHING else gave me any points.
And I leveled up the instant I had made enough XP.
This time, I calculated the XP per cycle, did some dry runs to ensure that XP eas getting counted, assembled enough materials to JUST get me to the next level, and began to grind.
When I was done, I SHOULD have had a few thousand XP beyond what I needed for the next box (I figured that with crit fails, I'd be right about on the mark)
I'll take a look tonight to see if my Xp has "registered" since the server refresh
jiggleojoe, the only foods that give chef xp are ones you learn from a chef skill box (well, except for casks and barrels). Food/drinks from Domestic Arts (teltier noodles, Jaar, Jawa Beer, Krispic) give general crafting xp. It doesn't look like that's what Everseeker ran in to, synthsteak is learned in Entrees I, so it should award chef xp.
This really sounds like the "xp lag" that crept in last publish. Did logging help? I noticed on TC that you needed about 10m or more logged out to give the server time to notice that the client's info is out of date and push the correct info to you.

I logged off in ... distress ...last night. I will take a look tonight when I get off work... Keeping my fingers crossed
Small and large glasses give general crafting xp (which makes sense considering they're both schematics in the Artisan profession). Casks and barrels (schematics in chef)also give general crafting xp, which is a mystery that has never been explained by devs.

Then I went off making Grailyn juice and when i opened my xp monitor it already said 32013 - i was thinking *wow* that was quick. Did a few more and realised it wasn't budging - relogged and I had 5k
