to get a few extraexperimentation pts for your wares?

"I wish I could be the one,
the one who won't care at all
But being the one on the stand,
I know the way to go, no one's guiding me.
When time soaked with blood turns its back,
I know it's hard to fall.
Confined in me was your heart
I know it's hurting you, but it's killing me."

IMO port doesn't do a thing. For the last few months I've been useing it whenever I did brandy schems. I would use port untill I was full ( 1 drink / experiment ) and still only get amazing success once in a while. Experimenting without it seemed to get close the the same %. After many crates of port I no longer bother with it...it doesn't work or adds so little it's not worth the cost and time to make it.

I do use bespin port, as I do see less failures in experimenting. I wouldn't say it's an amazing drink, but it has it's uses, especially for those people where failures in experimentation mean junking expensive ingredients.

I don't think it's that useful for Chef's because we don't make anything with rare, expensiveloot items. If I bomb on experimentation I just junk it and start again.

I use bespin all the time for schematics where I really want amazing successes in more than one experimentation line. I experiment the first line without bespin, throw away and repeat if I get anything but amazing. Once I get an amazing result in the first line, I use bespin to increase my chances on the second line.

When I first started using it, I felt that the effect was quite noticeable and also that the chance of amazing successes was much higher with fewer points - using bespin in a research center with a 3 or 4 point experiment seemed to give an amazing success more often than not, while a 1 point experiment was almost certain to be amazing. Recently, I haven't noticed nearly as much benefit. Just yesterday I did 5 single-point experiments with bespin before each one and didn't get a single amazing success. Probably just luck, but I do wonder if something got changed in the last patch or two.

I use it all the time even though I think the impact is small. Hell it's almost free, so why not?

I've gone through many crates and never had a failure while using it. It is a small effect though, +11. So it can keep you from having a bad experimentation, but not so great when it comes to amazing. It helps, but not by a lot.

I use Bespin Port in Research centers, along with Pyollian Cake, to give me that edge since I don't have the maximum number of experimentation points to get the numbers I want. Even though it might not work all the time, every bit of help I can get I'll use. With +11, I admit along with the others, it isn't much - but whatever gives me a "slight" edge, I'll use. My opinion of Bespin Port is based on the fact that I don't have the money to buy the expensive tapes, and since I can make Bespin for myself, it's a cheaper way to hopefully help me to gain 12 point chef food stats. I've been able to save some points here and there using Bespin, but sometimes it's a painful process having to wait for them successes.

Ok, maybe I've missed something...(i'm not a chef, I'm an artisan) cause as I understand it Port adds to your experiment points...therefore giving u an extra point to experiment with (depending on your current exp skill) and has no effect on chances of an amazing success...that's pyollian cake and the assembly skill.

If I'm wrong, let me know...cause I'll have to look at crafting in a whole new light!

How useful exp points are to chefs...well that i wouldnt know

nope you've got it all wrong port effects you experimentaion % crit fails, good, great amazing success. Adds to that same hidden score your crafting tool, station and research center work on.

The cake works on assembly. once you've put all your resources into the schem and hit assemble you roll the dice so to speak and it gives you a score. If you crit fail here you lose it all. Assembly tapes and cake effect this outcome. Alot of people think an amazing success here gives you a better chance for one when experimenting, as far as I know thats just rumor I've never seen anything official say that.

Port does not give you extra experimenting points. you get 10 points from master ( 11 if you're a human art with 3/3/3/0 I think it is ) and the other 2 have to come from items.

What are these "research" centers you all speak of?

I have a droid with stuff in it....but if there a place that will give me higher bonuses???

my droid provides me with the ability to exp. so i usually make my stuff out in the wild is this why i am not making good brandy??

I use it quite often when creating a schematic for brandy for example, to boost the chance of amazing success while experimenting in the duration.

Without amazing success on the duration i have to use onemore point in it and the atribute modifiers would stay bit lower, I am sure that is no problem

for 12 points chefs but i havent had luck with tapes myself this far.
