Thread: What is this 12 point chef I keep hearing about?

As an aspiring chef who is currently grinding, I have no idea what people mean when they say this. Please help me out here so I understand.

It refers to the number of experimentation points they have to spend. For every +10 to the "Food experimentation" skill modifier,you get one point to experiment with. Getting to Master Chef gives you +100 to this skill, so a "normal" master has 10 points. You can get up to +25 to any skill using clothing tapes, so if someone collects at least +20 worth of food experimentation tapes, they have +120 for that skill, so have 12 experimentation points.

Do food experimentation tapes have the same frequency of other tapes? I've never seen one personally drop. Are they AA's or CA's? Do you need to put them only on certain clothing (chef hats, aprons)?

They like any other tapes, i think experimentation tapes only drop as a CA and they can be put on any clothing. They do exactly the same job as other skill tapes, they add to the experimentation skill giving you more points.
And on the frequency i think it depends from server to server on farstar they're still quite common as the borgle cave is still on only a 45m timer, on other i hear its been change, at that unfortunatly is where most of the decent tapes come from.

So you get them from the containers in the borgle cave? can you get attachments from any cave? or is it just some caves or the harder ones? im having the DAMNEDEST time finding these tapes....ive only seen one being sold and i was too late to buy it...its crazy, i see weapon and armor experiment tapes...i saw a armor experiment tape for 25k! i wish i could find some dern food ones...ill have to check out that cave...hey! the borgle cave is on endor yes?

well here is a very nice illustration of what those extra points can do. When i was a 10pt chef i made +403 43m30s 18use 50fill brandy, sold a crate at 135k, and it sold like mad. Now i recently got my first +10 experimentation(got 4more tapes sitting on my desk waiting) anyways i then went to make brandy and almost died of happyness. I made +415 44m 21use 50fill brandy, all the same resources used, +87 BSN's. Now im currently selling it at 175k, probably going to have to bump that to 200k because people are buying bulk because its to cheap lol. Anyways, thats what 1 more experimentation point can do, now you know why being a 12pt chef means big money/customers.
