as i have only 1 vendor for food/drink
i would have to reduce to full crates only of bivoli, canape, ahrisa, vercupti, brandy and bestine port. that would below 20 full crates each and i would have to restock dayly.
at the moment my chef vendor have 600+ items most are full crates (we only split the not full crates from full factory runs).
with the current limits i think i would close the shop as i liked to have around 15 to 20 diffrent food/drink on the vendor.
but what will you put in stock when the limit will be 110 at master merchant or lower when you are not master merchant?

I won't sell a damn thing. I'll cancel this acount and go play my fighter. No point in stocking anything when you have to do it 12 times aday

My problem would be that I have to be master merchant to get a high enough vendor item limit. I am currently 3-0-0-2 merchant and i would hate to put more skillpoints in merchant since it will make my combat profession more or less useless (i cant keep my master Pikeman).
Being a pure crafter is not something i would consider since guild hunts, the occasional pvp and simply the combat experience is something i enjoy. I do not have the money to pay for another account so the only other option is to drop my chef profession. I hope the devs consider that not all would like to be pure crafters, having a master combat profession on the side makes me able to join alot of friends in some fun againts NS the corvette or DWB.

i hope they will raise the limit. i would need 500 itmes per vendor. anything below 300 and i will highly give up. i realy hate to give our 12 month shop now. (we was master chef before the revamp). but i have my doubts with the devs somehow they have lately found ways to ruin the game not improve it.
It it will be jedi (i love the old permadeath at that time i have active played my jedi but now i hate the idea of mass murder and dont play anymore), an NONE RPG space expansion, the delay of combat revamp, suggler revamp, SL revamp, GCW revamp, looping macros and now chef.
they dont know how to make quests (the knight troals for jedis are a joke) and the game interessing they do lately nothing other as not only repairing the systems (there are way to many bugs) they also try to crush the little fun that is left.
i am a real master merchant i spent the 92 points and not gave it up and holded the vendors the 110 itms per vendor as a bad low blow and not very thought. around 6 months ago they thought to put in 150 items at master merchant per vendor and they had a big outcry there they removed the decsion and only changed the bazar price from 3 to 6k. they also did not put in that you cant sell any backpacks. and now they even go under the 150 which they know the comunity find unacceptable that shows me only that they realy dont care about the game or dont play a merchant. they want player driven comunity with this idea they will crush it when alone over 50% of the vendors will vanish because they are not certified (and not only empty ones). i spoke with a good bunch of full time merchants on my server and i know most will close their shop. and most are the big sellers with their full stocked vendor (which then are not longer possible) the prices will go up drasticly and the varity will go down.
why shall i put wonwon or travel bisquits on the vendor when 1 sell only 1 crate in a month (or less).
i think most non crafters dont know what will come to them when they have to pay more and can only buy composite with luck some ubese, only the best selling weapons of each class (will be hard to find polearm i fear), i dont think many tailors will have shops where you can look through to find you color and style, and so on.
alone the idea that they try again to crush their economy and this time even worse is something i dont understand had they though most of the long time players are gone now and the new players would not rember that first try 6 months ago?

i don't have any merchant, i don't want anouther account and i like combat also,(master chef (12point), master pikeman, with some scout to get meat for bio's)but i love chef
I use a friends extra vendor. I sell my food for good prices and have alot stocked on the vendor because i sell alot of the foods most don't stock. i dont know what im gonna do when this patch hits, i dont want to drop chef and i want to stock what my costomers want without having to log on 3 times a day to stock my vendor or take special order by e-mail. this patch is gonna hurt me and prob. alot of people who dont have multible accounts and dont want to throw all there points into artisan stuff.
The reson for me not likeing E-mail orders is i dont know when im gonna be on and i don't want to spend most of mytime droping off or meeting people to give them there orders. when i'm not cooking(which is fun and enjoying to me)i want to be able to have FUN in other areas of the game, whichSOE keeps trying to prevent us from doing.
So, i will not drop chef, but my vendor will be empty alot of the time and i will loose costomers, but hey if im not haveing fun in the game than i might as well not play at all
anyway my 2cents

It's not going to be that low. There's no way the devs will leave it like this with so many unhappy people. There's going to be an item limit it just won't be that low

I am sick of SOE screwing up my gaming experience! For the love of god SOE get over yourselves. People play this game for fun. Not to get pissed off everytime they turn around because you "fixed" or "improved" a profession! A 110 limit on vendors? Are you flipping kidding me? Are you trying to force people to log in every day? You do realize that some people have lives other than in game? Ahhhh SOE (Screwing-up Online Entertainment)

One of the only reason that I am still playing is to reach my goal of one vendor with at least 10 of EVERY food and drink available. I won't be able to do this with this new "fix".
Is this live or just in test?

What you need to remember is psychology.
You want the players to accept that vendors will hold a max of, say 200 items each.
You know that the players want an infinite amount. The ones that understand the reasons behind caps think 300 per vendor is fairer,
What do you do ?
You start it off at 100. There's uproar. You say "OK, OK. We give in, the players are right, these limits are too harsh. After lengthy internal discussions, we have agreed to double it to 200 items per vendor"
Everyone cheers the Dev's for listening to the playerbase, and "giving in" to player demand, and the devs sit there chuckling because they got the level they wanted, and made the players think they won the argument
I use exactly the same tactics on my kids. On a school night, they say "ah can't we stay up until 11!!", I say "no chance, you have school in the morning, bed at 9" after a couple of minutes of them bargaining, them dropping by 5 or 10mins on the time they want to stay up til, and me going up, we reach a "compromise" of 10pm - just the time I think is right for em at that age.

The item cap is definitely too harsh, that's true. I think there should be a cap, yes. Nobody needs a vendor with a 1000 items (as nodoby wants to browse a 1000 items). But 120 is a joke. I could do with 250 items. But others (like tailors) might have serious problems.
Removing vendors of uncertified people is a good idea IMO. (I can already hear the flamethrowers being refuelled). It might sure post a serious problem to people that don't want (or can't afford) an alt character. The point is: you don't have to sell your stuff yourself. As in real life, most things are sold via resellers (super markets etc.). So why shouldn't the merchant profession be more than a complementary to a crafter's profession? Let others sell your stuff. Ok, this doesn't work with the current vendor system. You'd need to be able to offer more things to a vendor. Or better, use rights management just as it is used for structures. And a merchant would need more vendors to effectively sell other people's stuff. He should be able to put up at least 6 vendors (for different stuff) in at least 2 different locations (Corellia/Naboo f.ex.).
But I somehow doubt SOE _really_ considers any of this. It seems they only want to clean up their databases. Hey, I've got an idea for that! Just dump that crap loot stuff like CDEF pistols/knives/staffs. Nobody needs it!

This hurts everybody.
I am Mrifleman/Mch/ranger and I use some of the more uncommon foods (+taming and +maskscent) when I am going for a difficult tame and occasionally veghash when I am working on a meat order. I have a difficult enough time finding chef vendors stocked with these items as it is, I can only imagine how much worse it will be when the devs screw the vendors.
*sigh* I have only been a part of SWG for like 6 weeks and I already feel annoyed everytime I read the publish notes.

Fatgit -- you and I have been around since the beginning, and I was thinking the same thing when I heard about the change!
"Here We Go Again!"
I hope they will end up upping it. I heard today that a non-master merchant will have only a *60*-item limit and if so, that would pretty much do it for me.
There would be no point in continuing chef -- and I've been a chef since like the 2nd week of the game. It IS my character.
If they made it 300 that would be fine with me.... even 250 perhaps if they had to. But anything less than that for one vendor and I will most likely retire.
I have 220 items on my vendor now and I'm not even fully stocked with everything people buy.
I understand they want to make master merchant more attractive... but when you're a master chef you've already had to spend so many points already.
<sigh> I guess I'll just see how things go...
