Thread: Noob Chef needs a bit of help plz

Could anyone please post a sticky for information on what resource stats are valuable for us Chefs?
So far i spent close to 200k (no i didnt get riped off but i bought a TON of resources as i thought them to be good ones) on resources for Pyollian Cake (for myself not for sale). The resources i purchased were very high Overall Quality and Flavor but some of the other stats are lacking. Now i screwed up and purchased Oats twice instead of one Oats and One wheats so i havnt had a chance ot assemble the Sweet Cake Mix i need, but i did notice that when i put in the fruits for the item the little bar that is verticle and to the right of the resource just entered stays completely black. And i remember from from my doc days that bar should fill in green depending on how your resource will effect the crafted item.
Basically iam wanting to know if that verticle bar doesnt mean anything anymore, or for chefs at all. And what stats matter on resources when it comes to foods (and do different foods require different high stats). Please post any info you can or post a sticky.

when making component the quality of the resource doesn't matter...sweet cake mix is a component so you need to buy the crappiest/cheapest resource you can for it...you're just wasting your good resources if you use them for components and thats why nothing shows up in that bar

and for the final product, you want stats high in OQ/PE. Flavor will effect the duration, and DR the fill, but OQ/PE should be your first focus

Before you get too far into the crafting, it sounds as though you've decided you need pyollian for yourself.
Do yourself a favor. Go out, buy a few heavy flora harvesters and drop them on ANY high percentage of your sweet cake mix cereal resources because quality doesn't matter. Do not use the good resources you just purchased in any components...ever. When you see the black bar next to a resource, that means that quality is unimportant. The easiest way to know whether you can use crappy resources is to look at the section you're selecting them from in your crafting tool. If it's listed under 'components', use grind quality. The ONLY exception to this rule is when making veghash as a component for vegeparsine. In that case, the quality of the veghash is totally irrelevant. Feel free to use grind quality in that as well.
The other thing to make note of are the percentages of importance in the stats of your resources. As waffle mentioned, most foods/drinks follow this:
* Nutrition (the amount of bonus the food will give): PE accounts for 66%/ OQ accounts for 33%. This means that to get a food with a high nutritional value, you'll want something with a very high PE, with OQ being secondary, but also very important.
* Flavor (otherwise known as 'duration'. This dictates how long your product will be effective.): FL accounts for 66%/ OQ accounts for 33%. This means, if duration is important on what you're making, you'll want something with a very high FL and OQ.
All of these percentages are listed both in your datapad draft schematics, and once you open your crafting tool to view the individual items.
* Filling (the amount of stomach room the food will use): DR accounts for 75% / OQ accounts for 25%. This means that you'll want something with a very high DR, with OQ being secondary, but also of importance, to make your product less filling.
Quantity (this is self explanatory): PE accounts for 75% / DR accounts for 25%. You'll find that quantity is not as much of a concern, because it's the last thing people look at when purchasing an item - if they notice at all.
