Ok.. I'm a Master Artisan. That said, can I still use casks for drink schematics?
Also, are Barrels still broken?

Yes and yes.
You can get casks (or schematics for it) from a chef with Mix 2 and use them in any drink schematic, even ones in artisan.
And AFAIK, barrels still give the same stack size as small glasses.

Wouldn't that be awesome?! The thing that bugs me the most is that I always end up with random bits and pieces of crystalline left over from my 100k stacks, and once recycled, they're totally and utterly useless to me. Even if they still required trim, I'd be one happy girl to be able to use generic gem.

all we really gotta do is get every chef in the game to agree never to make another cask again

So barrels are out till unless they decide to fix them, I'll stick to Casks.

Me too!! Plus all the gemstone on my server is quite expensive for grinding quality 
Anyone know what recycler can put crystalline gemstone in?

An ore recycler recycles it, but it turns it into generic gemstone that can't be used in casks anymore. It may be somewhat useful to an arch, but we'd have to save our odds and ends for a long time to get that much, lol.
