Thread: The Reason I Love Being a Chef
Hi, I'm a Master Doctor/Master Chef and I love being a chef. I dropped by the board to see if there were any issues that I didn't know about. Well, the stack bug is an issue but I knew about that and the fix to it. Some of the food items not working but I knew about those too.
I didn't realize how tough y'all have it. By looking at this board, I feel that chefs are the most terrible and broken class in the game. So much whining, I mean discussion about how impossible it is for y'all. One guy said he wasted 94 skill points by learning to be a chef and can barely get by.
I know how rough it must be on you whiners, err, chef discussion writers. I only made 2 million credits this week in profit. I just have no idea what to spend it on. Its truly pathetic how being a chef causes these dreadful issues.
What I don't understand is why there's so many threads that say the same thing over and over. Maybe chefs tend to like to type, I don't know.
I like the way food and drinks can be used to buff someone at any time without the need for a doctor. I also like the way food and drinks can buff mind, focus and willpower unlike doctors; this is a real plus that brings the customers to me like a horde of ants to corellian ice cream laying on the ground. Now, spice can be used at any time BUT food/drink doesn't cause puking. I've seen so many elite fights and the loser ends up biting it because puking started before the other guy/gal. Oh, and I LOVE the credits I make; no idea what to spend my money on but I have lots. I make architects and other craftsman drool with envy. Oh, also, I like being invited to all social events; chef = popular like a entertainer but with money, hehe.
Lets see, instead of whining chefs, how the rest of the SWG population considers food/drinks. They're willing to pay a Doctor 6k to fully buff them. They're willing to pay 5k for a crate of spice like muong gold. They're willing to pay a Chef 78k for a crate of fishak and a crate of versupti.
Yup, looking at it that way...objectively, Chefs are truly on the top of the food chain. Here's another super thing about being a chef that is soooo much better than any other crafter. Unlike Architects, DEs, Tailors, and the rest, Chef products are consumable. What does this mean? I'll explain for the uneducated. It means that I have 20 customers. Unlike other craftsmen, these customers will come see me each and every week until they quit the game to buy more!
My biggest issue is that with 30 lots and using all heavies and 8 factories, I still just can't keep up with the demand. I cannot seem to make food/drinks fast enough for SWG's population; chefs are doing such a good job whining that people aren't trying out the chef profession which means more business for me. My second issue is the stack bug but it doesn't affect sales, its just a minor inconvenience to have to send a bug fix mail to any customers that don't know about it and how to fix it; which is truly minor since I only sell to Master BH's, CHs, Commandos and Doctors who know how important it is to have an edge like food/drinks. My third issue is some of the broken food/drinks that cannot be made due to milk or just not working but that one is severely minor.
I love being a chef, making wads of credits, having everyone drool over me, and always in demand. Thank you, Lucas Arts!
Chef is good, it could be better and when they fix the stack bug I expect my produce to go gang busters. Still, like the original poster I'm having fun and I'm surprised that so many Chefs have quit - it's not that bad.

I make a pretty healthy profit too, from my loyal customers... meaning, the 5 or 6 people that are my repeat sales and order crates at a time. I rarely sell from the vendor anymore, because most people are more interested in the spice that my friend is selling on it now. She sells a lot of crates a day. I know, because I run Banthamart and keep track of sales in a spreadsheet.
I enjoy playing the game now that I have customers. The thing that scares me the most is that I can't sell anything but mind food, and as soon as they put a way to heal mind into the game, those sales will disappear, which means my food is useless.
