Alright, I'm "attempting" To become a chef. However, in my great noobness, I am finding it hard to get started...

My problems fall into two main catergories: money, and resources. Most of the issues stem from the first one. So what did you guys do to get started? I find it hard to gather my own meat (since my uber noobness also reaches into combat). And the money thing puts a "cap" on getting resources.

Any advice that you guys can give would be appreciated.

thanks

well the cheapest way would be to do some mission from a terminal then buy some personal harvesters and some power and put them up a place with lots of berries or/and all the other flora, wait some days empty you harveys and begin your grind. admitted this will take a long time but it is somewhat cheaper
You could also loot a mandalorian wine schem and sell it then buy all your resources, but then you would bang your head against the wall when you are an established chef hehe

it was alot of fun starting out. Oh the memories.

You have chef which means you might have personal harv making capabilities. Run artisan missions for the little cash ya need to feed harvs. You can survey/sample for the resources to make the personal harvs. Wind, mining and some flora harvs. Run more artisan missions to keep feeding the harvs. To me.. this was alot of fun.. then I started making more small harvs and grabbed friends to drop these small harvs around my house while I made tatooine sunburns for what seemed forever. I picked up Architect then too and started making my own mediums then moved to larges and got more friends and planted more harvs and ran more missions.. its a never ending cycle which I still do today.. just in a larger more extreme sort of way.

Artisan missions were key for me when they implemented them so so many moons ago.

I luckily was well established and had quite a bit of money to invest in Chef. I spent approximately the following getting started up on chef:

1.5 Million on Grinding Resources

2 Million on Good Resources

1 Million+ on Heavy Flora & Water Harvesters

750k on Factories

500k on Power for Harvs & Factories

2.8 Million on Broad Spectrum Nutrients

I'm sure my expenses are greater than that. I just started actually advertising my noob Master Chef Vendor today and only got a few sales for around 500k or so. So, I've invested approximately 8-9 Million in Chef and am just now starting to get rolling. I will probably spend another 2 million for good resources this week just so I can make things like Thakatillo and Vercupti.

I did this because I wanted to be able to compete with the top chefs on my server immediately and not work my way up from the bottom selling Non-BE stuff or even sell low quality foods at all. I don't know how I would have done it without spending half of my savings getting started - it would have taken forever.
