Im still sceptical .. I hear from others that it really only makes a difference if your a weaponsmith/armor smith or making some 3 item schematic ... but as a chef .. I dont see the diference ffrom crafting in a reasearch facility as crafting out side a city ..
Im just curiouse to see what other Chefs have to say .. It seems to me as long as I get a great Success its same as if I got an Amazing.. Its been on my mind a while .. and this is the first time I ask .. so be gentle .. hehe .. .. Im a 12 point Chef so I take my Culinary seriously .. but It be sweet to avoid Taxes on my vendors .. so if I dont gota be in a city .. I wont
.. Also .. IF I decide to put a cantina Down .. how many lots is it .and ... do I have to keep it on my lotsor can I transfer it to my Non-Chef Alt?
Thnks for reading and any Help provided.

Assembly helps getting better percentages after the initial combination, and fewer critical failures. Since chefs don't deal with looted components (like weaponsmiths and Krayt tissues), we don't have as much to lose from failures, and I've never noticed a difference between a great and an amazing assembly success.
As for research facilities, those help during experimentation (manufacturing centers help assembly), giving you better odds for an amazing success, which are pretty handy. Getting an amazing when spending 7 points is effectively the same as having an additional experimentation point. A great success adds 7% to the category per point spent, amazings add 8%. The research center is a small effect, but I think you can notice it when stacked on top of high-effectiveness tools/stations and using Bespin Port.
Cantinas are 6 lots, and cannot be transfered to a player who can't place one. So unless your alt is a Master Dancer or Musician, you're out of luck.

Over the long run, you'll get slightly better results when experimenting in a research center, but I personally don't really worry too much about it. On the other hand, you don't have to actually live in a research center to get the bonus while in city limits. If you've got a friend living there or the city has placed crafting stations in the city hall, you can just travel there, make your schematics, and leave without having to worry about those pesky taxes.
As for amazing successes, since you get +1 to the experimental percentage compared toa great success, if you get an amazing after spending 7 points, you're at the same stats as if you spent 8 points and got a great success. So you sort of get the same benefit as having an extra point.

Research cityies are worth it if you think the rating on crafting machines and tools is useful.
To me they are. I don't have any hard data to prove they do anything, but I believe I do get better odds of a amazing success at research centers. And therefore travel to another city each time I make schematics.

I tend to agree that being in a Research Facility does help with expermentation as I just recently moved into a new city and noticed alot more Amazing Success compared to what I used to get!

I've only seen on Research City. Is this player owned city/guild? I don't know much about them.
