Being a novice chef I keep crafting different foods and drinks yet I get no food crafing xp for that. Am I bugged?

Make sure that what your are crafting can only be made by a Food and Chemical Crafting tool. If you are making food that can be made on a General Crafting tool you will get only General Crafting XP.

All you have to do is look under the picture to see which is which. Oh I ment generic when I said general.

Perhaps a better way to explain it:

You see all the foods you get in the Domestic Arts skill tree? Stuff like Starshine Surprise and Meatlumps and K-18 Rations and so on?

Those don't count as food with respect to "Food Crafting XP."

The only things that give you Food Crafting XP are the recipes you get in the Chef trees. Which means that when you hit Novice Chef, you have 7 recipes you can make that will give you Food Crafting XP. Stuff like Alcohol and Almond-Kwevvu Crisp Munchies and Wastril Bread.

The usual recommendation is to crank out a bunch of Wastril Bread, since that gives you the most XP. 73 XP per Wastril Bread in Practice mode.
