When asked about the recent realization that all experimentation was returning a 4% increase on a great success instead of the current live value of 7% Thunderheart wrote this.

i don't see how you keep saying it's "working as intended" when crafter after crafter on TC is giving clear evidence that experimentation is NOT having the affect it once had. i just...don't see it.

It doesnt It was broken in your favor before...

You guys wanted a fix for experimentation and it was fixed - - this is a result of the fix. Before you got extra bonuses. Those extra bonuses are gone now.

Looks like that uber 300 pt buff will now max out around 240 or so if that if this puppy goes live.

Oh good! No word on the buff bug in the patch notes, our already lousy buffs are going to be worse, and a generic message from the first red name to grace the forum in 2 months. Tell me again why I am a chef? Perhaps it would be easier to rename the profession Masochist instead of fixing everything.

Well at least it's screwing everyone and not just us. Hopefully enough people will be against this much like the schematic limit.

A slight ray of sunshine, my novice artisan on test center made a bofa treat and had two bites without wrecking her stats. Another person said she could drink two sunburns without screwing up her stats as well. So it seems the buff bug is fixed.

Well, I guess with our experimentation now being LOWERED, our buffs will be that much LOWER now. The more I read these boards, the more I wonder why I'm still here....

Well now, if I'm understanding the entire fix correctly, in fixing experimentation they've made resource quality more accurately affect the end result. Personally, I've never seen any discrepancies, but I know a lot of chefs have had complaints about that (i.e. flavor makes no difference). They've also removed the "zero effect" when you use resources that don't affect certain properties (i.e the metal used for containers in recipes, no flavor or PE). It's just that when reviewing the way experimentation was working, they also found an error re: success/failure bonuses, and have corrected that.If my high-quality resources can beexperimented to their full potential, I don't see why reducing the bounus by 3% would be muchof a detriment.

I agree that, based on information inthe thread, resource quality will have bigger effects on the end result. From what they are saying, theoretically perfect (i.e., all 1000s) resources would give the same results before and after the patch (provided no relevant stats were missing). However, if your resources are less than perfect, your results will suffer much more than they do under the current system. Unless they make changes to the base statistics (and not just the maximum), most items created after the patch will be of lower quality than those made before the patch.

Also, from what I can tell, they added the zero effect to Test Center. The developers originally intended for missing stats to be calculated as zeroes, but on the live servers missing stats are instead treated as null. For instance, try making a weapon, droid, and general crafting tool with 16 metal, 8 ore, and 10 fiberplast. According to the schematic, the maximum effectiveness of the tool is determined by the conductivity of the resources. However, only one of these resources (the metal) hasconductivity. If your metal had 250 conductivity, your maximum effectiveness would be 25% (since conductivity is ignored for ore and fiberplast). According to the reports from Test Center, the same materials would produce a maximum effectiveness of 8.33% after the patch. I'm not sure if the zero effect is speculation or fact at this point.

I have no idea how this will affect chefs. On one hand, chef crafting has never accurately reflected the schematic descriptions, so there is a chance this change will not extend to us either. On the other hand, if the entire code has been reworked so that all crafting works under the new rules (and the zero effect applies), that could be disasterous. Many chef ingredients (particularly in the mixology line) lack flavor and potential energy.Items such as Antakarian Fire Dancer might well become even more useless.
