Hey chefs!

I've made a Chef Calc document that helps in determining costs for food production, as well as some other handy features. I'll be updating this as much as I can, so please give some feedback about new ideas orproblems.

You'll always be able to get the most up-to-date version at this site:

I hope this helps!

Issues I'm working on for the next version:

  • Compatability with other spreadsheet programs and the possibility of a pdf version

  • Data changes as stats change on the live servers

  • A button you can press to clear all the yellow fields

Keep the feedback coming!

In this post I'm going to field comments and questions that were made in the old thread.

jmpmstr said: 1) make it so there is a drink or food selection. Little easier then scrolling through the list

2) make it so we can "pre price" sub components. We all known how much resources alcohol needs by now, dont think we need to calculate it out everytime.

1) My intent is that this spreadsheet will be used to calculate the costs involved in making an item that you want to make. Obviously the costs won't be that important if you don't yet know what you're looking for. So, since you already know the name of what you're looking for, I put everything in alphabetacal order (if you know the name, you know where it is on the list). I thought this would make it easier to find everything.

If this isn't how it's being used, and if enough of you would prefer the list be separated by drink / food / component, please let me know.

2) I'm not sure what you mean by this one. If you're making something alcoholic, then you'd want to figure out the costs for your alcohol, so you'd select Alcohol from the list and calculate everything. Once you get that, you could start making your wine (or whatever) and in the slots for the alcohol you'd make a note about where you got it, and then how much it costs per unit, based on your previous calculations. I don't understand how this involves calculating the cost of alcohol every time. (Please explain)

I must say I am eagerly waiting for the nexy version.

Well, I added in a note about Havla that says "duration is number of uses", and I further separated the effects cells so it would be harder to confuse multiple lines. Havla's only effect is "Reduced heal recovery time", not "Reduced heal" and "recovery time" separated, just as SciguyCo said. I hope this helps. And hey, the new version is out, with a factory calc! Give it a whirl.

I need to give a serious thank-you to SirVimes for making these threads sticky, so this spreadsheet could get out to as many chefs as possible. And because he's doing a great job as our community's liaison!

So is the factory calc useful at all? How is this working for everyone?

The factory cost seems to bea bit high.

Example:

Total Cost Per Item: 710

Total Cost Per Item (After Factory costs): 1420

Power per Hour: 50

Cost/Power per Unit: 1

Maint per Hour: 50

Crates made : 7

Items per Crate: 25

Time per Item: 72

Total Items Made in Factory Run: 7 * 25 = 175

Total Time for Factory Run:3.5 hours

At 3.5 hours my factory costs should be as follows:
Power: 3.5 hours * 50 * 1 (CPU)= 175

Maint: 3.5 hours * 50 = 175

So Factory cost per item should be 2 - 350 / 175 items.

It looks like the Total Cost is being multiplied by the Factory Cost per Item and not added. Or do I have this all wrong?

Thanks Bihlbo. Also, is there a way to truncate the hours so it doesnt look like 2.666666666666666666666667?

I have been trying to work on it - but no go.

Some other ideas -

1) Reset button to clear all of the yellow boxes.

2) Get the total time to be in a format like 210 minutesor 3 hours, 30 minutes. (well the minutes work fine, it is the hours and minutes that are acting up).

I will send you an email about another thing.

I'm working on the clearing button, but it might be a little bit for that yet.

The newest one should show hours as a single number, not as a decimal. I'll see about refining it further.

Yes,the hour thing is a single number- but put 3 hours, when it should have said 3:45. I tried to monkey around with it - but no go.

I think this is GREAT though - keep up the good work.
