Not sure if it is the highest, but it is the most efficient. It is definately the way to go if grinding to master.

To crush your enemies, see them driven before, and hear the lamentation of the women...

Oh, wait, that's "what is best in life..." Sorry.

Mists give the highest xp per combine, it has no components and all the resources can be sucked up with a harvester. A few high-level foods might give 10-20 more xp, but usually those are the ones that require meat, factory identical components, or both.

Are you talking pure Marksman or considering picking up an elite profession as well?

If it's just Marksman, then it is hard to recommend just one branch without knowing more. Rifles are very slow, but high damaging. If you have a pet or another person that can tank for you, then it's not so hard to stand in the back and do some damage. On the other hand, if you're alone, pistols are great though not that high damaging. A carbine is sort of a middle ground, but it's high HAM costs are a big turn off.

If you're considering going up an elite profession, then right now, Rifles are your best bet. Stick with it and it'll pay off big. Pistols are kind of fun too (I'm not much of a pistols guy), and Carbineer is mediocre. Both are very fun if you take the respective trees in BH, though, as you'll have some nice attacks and you'll be firing at the speed cap. Unfortunately, though, neither Pistoleer or Carbineer can do anywhere near as much damage as a T-21 against most targets because it does not have AP3 and HeadShot3 and StrafeShot2 are just overwhelmingly powerful.
