Thread: What should we ask next week (for May 5th)?

Ok, Thunderheart will be posting his 2nd round of profession answers in the next day or two, so lets figure out what we should submit when it comes back around to our turn next week.

The "master question list" can be found here:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=chef&message.id=36596

with unanswered questions at the bottom. You can propose using one of those, or add a brand new question here. Even if it's not the one submitted to TH, new questions will get added to the master list.

To maximize our return, try to avoid straight yes/no questions, unless you think it's very important.I felt the 30m digestion was important enough to warrant submitting last week, even though it boiled down to yes/no, bug/design. But on the other hand, don't make it so convoluted and complex that TH will need to write a dissertation to answer it. The more complicated the question is, the more time it'll take to get an answer back (if it even gets fully answered at all). TH is just one guy, and has only a couple of days to gather all the information for us and 18 other questions.

My suggestion (just to get things started):

What is the status of adding new food recipes?

Don't add a thing until the professions current bugs are fixed. Items such as barrels and Stomach/bladder drain rates have been an issue since we got the revamp and have been overlooked for long enough. Fix them before you add more buggy material.

Thanks

I'd like to find out the status of bug fixes - barrels, gated schems like garrmorl, stuff that was reported and flat-out ignored before the "revamp".

It bothers me that many of the questions the profession boards are asking seem to be questions that should be addressed in the fricking manual and aren't (how does dodge food work, how does pet experimentation work, etc) and TH answering them and expecting gratitude as if we're being granted some huge favor because he (or whatever scapegoat Verant's offered up) is doing what we pay them for. Maybe that's how the Q&As were intended all along but it irks me all the same - it's the unpaid correspondents who deserve gratitude for digging out the information that should be presented from the start.

i don't know if this is something the chefs should ask for but it would make me like chef food a lot more and make me use the products faster so i can give you guys more money lol. I just hate when i get jumped by 10 rebels at once and after the fight (me most often ending up in the cloning center) i can't help my comrades in battle anymore because i can't eat any more food. The stomache really needs to empty after death. I don't know why they didn't fix this already but in my opinion this would be the most useful change they could make for chefs and food consumers everywhere.

There is this BS exploit they are afraid of that crafters will run around being killed so they can go drink more port. I haven't cloned in over 5 months and have no plans to do so any time soon. Same reason it takes 15 seconds to pull out a bike or pet out of town.

As nice as it would be, the devs have stated several times that this would be too exploitable, either with instant effect foods (like Blue Milk's mind heal), or foods that have a high filling-to-duration ratio to balance a large bonus (like Flameout's 90%+ damage reduction for 4 hits).

The foods we currently have were designed with the assumption that the filling would always require a certain amount of time before more can be eaten. Removing that limitation would require either another drawback, or a reduction in the food's buff. Would it be worth it to have an empty stomach on clone if Brandy was reduced to +200 with the BE enhancement? Or Blue Milk had a 75 Filling? Foods like Bespine Port would probably have to be removed entirely.

Maybe I'm looking at these questions a little different than some people. I just don't see much of a reason to ask TH "Are barrels ever going to get fixed?" Yes it would be nice to know, but I don't see any answer really satisfying anyone. If he says yes, that hasn't solved anything. The bug still exists.

TH isn't going to be going into the code or rewrite the entire schedule in a week just based on the questions recieved from the professions. Bug fixes are great but I just don't see this being a good forum to ask about some of them. How many times should we ask "Will barrels be fixed?" or bugs like that. Until its fixed?

This isn't towards anyone in particular, I just noticed many of the other posts talking about getting bug fixes first. I completely agree, but I just don't see why asking a question about it will get it fixed any faster. Obviously I'm only 1 person, and my vote doesn't count anymore than anyone elses. We just rarely get opportunities to ask the devs questions and actually get an answer.

Ok, I hate these bugs as much as the rest of you (note my response to fatgit's 30m digestion rate report), but that's not really what these questions are for.

I'm really leaning towards a coincidental stealth fix on the stomach rate (if I could only verify it...), the chances that it was fixed (or will be fixed)because that was the question submitted last time are pretty remote.

If you want to know a progress report or timeline on a bug or bugs, I can phrase it that way and submit it. But the answer will likely be similar to Thunderheart's response on the wookiee apron issue and the 45m stomach: the bug has been reported, it is being looked at, and will be fixed inan upcoming publish. For anything less than major game systems (profession revamps, Jedi stuff, GCW tweaks, combat balance) I doubt any more detail can be provided.

Although finding out if plates could be a viable addition to foods could be a useful piece of information.

I'll vote for this one

What is the status of adding new food recipes?

The chef revamp removed around 25-50% of the number of items we can make, although the ratio of useful foods (even if some are special-case) is much better. The devs mentioned (through SirVimes) that new recipes would be added in future publishes/expansions.

ok, since bug related questions will likely only be answered with "yes we know its a bug, and are working on it" type of responses...how about this:

during the process of the chef revamp, chefs were told by the devs that while we would be receiving less schematics from the start, we would be getting more with future publishes...other professions which did not lose schematics are getting numerous new ones (albeit mainly limited use only) weaponsmith, armorsmith, tailor...not to say that these professions don't deserve them or that they should have them taken away, or anything along those lines, but they were not told by devs 3 publishes ago that they would receive them if they accepted less than what they currently had.

the chef community has been more than patient, and is deserving of at least 1 new schematic...use an existing artwork for the new schematic, take one of the numerous ideas submitted in the chef top 20...there are a lot of good ones, that would be useful...but in all likelyhoods not be anywhere near gamebreaking...its been 2 publishes, WS's have gotten...almost a dozen schems...tailors about 1/2 that...armorsmiths...well I'm gonna count wookie armor as 1...since it really is a set kind of thing...but it is a total that exceeds that which the ws's got...and each of these professions is in line to receive more with the upcoming death watch bunker mini publish.

if no ETA can be given, we would like to request the definition of the term "future publishes" in terms of time when this word is used by the devs...does this word mean 2-3 months...a year...never...or at least the number of publishes away this term entails...2 publishes from now, 3...4...5?
