Greetings,
I am new to chef (de ja vu aye), really this is my first shot at a crafting profession. I was wonder about a couple of issues.
1.) what resources are considered cereal
2.)deals with the experiment. I am 12point chef. but what exactly do each line of experiment do? I lost my sheet of paper with each name of the experiment line.
3.) HOW much better is the food with a BE additive. Coming from starsider, its a shortage of BE. I want to be competitive with other top chefs on my server, so i dont want to put out any junk food.
thanks in advance
P.S. I read all the clickies and didnt see the answers to my questions. So please no comments on that. And also I do go to SWGcraft.com Its a great sight for beging crafters.

the resource tree on swg-craft.com can answer your cereal question but stuff like wheat and oats are cereal.
i cant remember what each line is but the two middle ones are duration (flavor i think) and buff, the one below flavor.
food can be tons better with be tissues but if nobody uses them you dont need to either

1.) what resources are considered cereal
Wheats, Oats, Rice are some. There may be some other funky ones I'm missing, but I'm sure someone in here will add to this.
2.)deals with the experiment. I am 12point chef. but what exactly do each line of experiment do? I lost my sheet of paper with each name of the experiment line.
Nutrition: Increases the value of the buff. Some foods are already at their max and won't budge... like +200 regens on the Breath of Heaven drink. I can't buff those, but I can boost the Health pretty high.
Filling: Decreases the amount the food/drink fills the stomach bar with. So instead of taking up half the stomach, maybe you will only fill up 25%.
Flavor: Increases the duration of the buff effect.
Quantity: Increases the number of uses on the final food stack.
I usually experiment in the following order: Nutrition, Duration, Filling, Quantity
3.) HOW much better is the food with a BE additive. Coming from starsider, its a shortage of BE. I want to be competitive with other top chefs on my server, so i dont want to put out any junk food.
This is a sticky subject. There are markets for both types of food... there are cheap people who really don't want to blow 3,000 credits on a bioenhanced bofa treat and then there are really hardcore people who want the max buff they can get and don't think money is an issue.
I don't mind making BE foods, but not all of my food is bioenhanced. I put non bioenhanced items on my vendors and will make bioenhanced foods upon special order. I have a friend who will be making me some nutrients that I will use to stock up a few popular treats with bioengineering but I don't do it exclusively.
It's not "junk food" really... at least I don't look at it that way. The way I look at it is this:
Does the average player want to pay 3,000 credits for a Blob Candy that buffs +170 action regen for 45 minutes or does the average player want a Blob Candy that buffs +105 action regen for 45 minutes but only costs 400 credits?
Again, I'll reiterate that there is a market for both. You will always have hardcore people who want the best of the best of the best. Then you'll have people who don't really give a damn about the extra 70 action regen, because they don't want to pay 3,000 credits per hour for a buff. These are the people who don't go out hunting every night and that's all they do. These are the people who have crafting skills and a combat skill (like me). This food would be perfect for me. I don't really know what an extra 70 action regen would do, but what I see from the +100 on a Blob Candy is enough to sell me.
In short, yes, bioengineered foods can boost many stats, but it will quadruple the price to produce the food, take longer to make (3-5 factory runs depending on components you need for the food/drink), and ultimately cost your customers much more in the long run.
My advice? Don't waste your precious skill points on going master BE. You'll be nothing but a pure crafter and barely have enough points left over to even *think* about taking up some merchanting skills, which will hurt your ability to advertise and make sales. Get a friend who is a BE, or grab a second account.

I actually may add that BE blurb to my own little food guide on my site.
