Isnt there anything better to grind with that gives better exp? (and yes I know that you get #resources X 2 exp)

If you're at Novice Chef, no, wastril is the best you've got. Once you start getting skills in the different branches, though, you'll get some more options.
Deuterium Pyros (Mix I) give 90 xp, although it requires mineral and gas resources. Stewed Gwouch (Entrees I) gives 100, and only requires water and organic resources. But once you hit Mix II, you'll be harvesting lots of wheat, corn, and water, since Ithorian Mist gives 170 xp and requires no subcomponents.
