Chef Archive

So I'm back. Well, at least temporarily. Well, for about as long as it takes me to write this post, and maybe to check on it a few times.

I went away from the game for awhile. Not entirely my choice, as my hard drive bit the big one recently. The timing wasn't bad though, as it gave me a really good excuse to step away from galaxies for a bit.

Well, with my new Western Digital HD in, I decide that I really don't feel like logging in anyways, I'll come check on the Chef boards. I'd popped in occasionally on a friend's computer, but never really long enough to do any in depth reading. So I've been gone for like 3 weeks I think, give or take.

I'm just sitting here shaking my head over the state things are in. We're still broke, we're just broke in a different way now. Every third post seems like it's from some 133t 5P34K kiddie who got a holocron that told him to master Chef and now wants to know how to set up a hands-free macro to do it for him (my utmost apologies and condolences to those of you who got a Holocron that told you to master Chef, and came here to learn the fastest and best LEGITIMATE way of doing so). And don't even get me started on what I think of the whole mastering random professions idea.

Still no balance pass. Not even a hint of one. In fact, I don't think I can remember the last dev that made some sort of statement directly relating to chefs and/or food and drink (other than Vass the Almighty, I still have a soft spot for that guy). Apparently there's been absolutely nothing done since I've been gone. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it seems like they're aggressively ignoring Chef, and anything to do with it.

What can I say? Other than, "Dear God, I really feel bad for those of you that have continued to play while I've been gone." I think I would have broken my computer intentionally by now if it hadn't taken care of itself before I reached that level of frustration with this game. Oh, and did I mention the insanity that is skill tapes? Unless you're running an alt combat character and/or have tons of worthless, worthless credits banked up, you can't be a good chef and provide the best product to your customers anymore.

Let me compare that to a (semi-)real life scenario.Someone clones Wolfgang Puck. Puck and Puuck (to use EU terminology) have a cookoff, a la Iron Chef. In fact, let's say that they're actually on an episode of Iron Chef. Puck makes an assortment of dishes, all of which are excellent. BUT, Puuck makes the same dishes, but even better than Puck the original, because he stuck a piece of tape (read:skill attachment)to his body. Wait, it's not just any tape though. Some hunter (read: CH/BH/commando)on the African Savannah found this piece of tape stuck to a tribal chieftan he killed who purportedly had magical powers (read: force-sensitive NPC), and Puuck bought itfrom him and stuck it to his shirt (read:socketed clothing). **edit**!?!?!?!

Anyways, I'm a little off track now, I'm just kind of griping about things, which isn't what I really came back here to do. Ok, I admit, I did miss complaining a little bit. Just a little though. I'm much happier not having anything to complain about in the first place, and that's a fact.

So, in short, having come back, I really see no reason at all to renew my subscription, which runs out in less than a week. Maybe when the game is fixed (read: someone pays attention to the Chefs). Not before then though, although I imagine that I'll have some small trouble knowing when that is, since I won't be able to read these boards anymore and all of the RL friends I have that played this game have long since quit. Then again, Chefs may never be fixed, so I guess I'll just have to give it some time and find out what I can then.

Yep it's all true. I'd even go as far as saying this should be sent as a flyer to EVERY SOE employee......but for now the Chef Correspondent emailing it to the person in charge of us should due.

Nice to see you back Sembel...we have wasted away signifigantly since you've been gone. Most of the really vocal (and most fun ) have left the boards and now it is just swarming with holocron chefs. It's pretty infuriating.

Check back in a few weeks to see even less people posting, because the aren't going to even look at us until they start trying to manage the 100-200 jedi per server in game balance. Ouch!

All I want for christmas this year is a balance pass. SirVimes, I simply can't beleive that you are holding on this well.
