Thread: A Question on resources
I've been wondering if there is some kind of random generation of the names and attributes of resources or if there is a set and finite number of different resources. I've been trying to keep track of some of the higher quality resources, but I never seem to see the same resource more than once after it's depleted. Is it possible for the same resource to appear more than once?
Thanks
They're randomly generated, then when they dry out, they're gone forever.
If you find some 999 quality 960 shock resistance 980 conductivity plumbum iron, for instance, get as much as you can hold and then some, before it runs out. ![]()
I was hoping to create a database of resources...
/sigh
The dream is over. Hehe

No, I myself never saw the same specific named resource twice. There will be different types of a particular resource(like Plumbum Iron or Phrik Aluminum), but, the actual resource you survey for and sample, once it has disappeared from the galaxy, I don't believe it will every appear again. I have a feeling that they are all under a random generation program that when it needs to run, it will randomly generate a resource.
Now, when it comes to resources that you pull off the animals, they never change. If you pull something from a Feral Bantha near Wayfar and then later you attack some up near Mos Espa, they will have the same qualities as the first ones. The only thing that might make them change is the different categories of these animals(Baby, regular, Bull, Matriarch, etc). These may create different qualities for each animal, but, I didn't do enough research on this to learn which will give different ones.

But I do know this... Tatooine on Flurry has just about the most pathetic collection of Copper and Chemicals I've seen yet =P... oh.. and like 7 types of Carbonate ore, and two Silastic but no others ! =)
Thanks for all the input, but this begs the queston... does esch resource in a certain class have the same statistics? For example: does all Titanium Aluminum have the same properties, even if the name changes?
Dear Vimey,
This is almost a moot point due to the upcoming patch, however I still wanted some input on this:
What makes a resource more valuable to you? I must confess, at the beginning I had been solely focused on flora with an OQ of at least 800 (with secondary stats of Flavor, and Potential Energy not being as important). However, I've been going through alot of the schematics and attempting to break down how to get the most bang for my buck - as I'm lacking the full 12 experimental points. Is it me? Or does it seem that Potential Energy seems to play an even more vital role than Overall Quality? Flavor seems to be somewhat important - but I'm not sure how... duration maybe? (writing this from work, so I am going from memory) Anyway, thank you for letting me ramble on - but that's basically where I'm at right now.

General Rule:
OQ - Quantity
PE - Quality
FL - Duration
Duration, on some recipes, is a difficult mod to experiment on so generally I look for organics with good OQ and PE first
Weird... I thought almost all the recipies called for 1/3 of each of those stats in almost every category... so I assumed the overall highest average would be the best. Is that incorrect?
I've spent most of my time grinding, so never really stopped to look at actual impact...
