Swedish Chef Fired For Succeeding

STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- A man in Sweden is losing his job -- because he did it so well.

Richard Norberg works as a chef in the cafeteria of an engineering company. His food is so good, it's attracting too many people -- and they're having to wait in long lines.

So, his contract isn't being renewed.

The company leased its cafeteria to Norberg six years ago. Since then, he's become well-known for his traditional Swedish pancakes, pea soup and pork chops. And instead of the 100 people who used to have lunch there, it's now 300.

The company's staff manager says there just isn't enough room for everyone who wants to sample Norberg's cooking. He says the company makes pipe-installation parts -- and it's not set up to run a popular restaurant.

All gone. Nothing to see now. Bye Bye Ahazi most of you guys were cool

"Swedish Chef Fired For Succeeding"

When I read that, I feared for Muppets worldwide. My first thought was actually, "Gosh, so he finally got the chicken in the popcorn sauce perfected." And a tear came to my eye.

Oh, and see? THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PUT A GREAT CHEF IN A SYSTEM YOU ARE NOT READY FOR!!!!!

ROFL...something similar happened in my next of the woods a decade ago...

It seems that a guy opened up a hotdog/hamburger type stand near our local mall (in fact he leased space on the mall's sidewalk since there were no food court spaces left). Apparently he was doing so well that he received approval to add a larger stand and grilling area, eventually becoming very popular. The owners of the food court got together and complained to mall management that he was stealing their business.

They kept applying pressure until the management made a deal with them...if they were willing to pay his rent for the space outside, management would terminate his lease. The food vendors agreed and management served him the termination papers. A few weeks passed, and each vendor saw a 10% increase on their rents (each complained of course), but they had the deal in writing. About a month later, one of the food vendors closed up shop (one of the loudest complainers at that). Who filled the void?

That's right...the hotdog/hamburger guy...who up until his retirement in 1999 was one of the busiest food vendors on the court. The new owner ran it into the ground and now its Asian food or something similar.
