I mastered chef earlier for holo grind, but never was really a dedicated crafter. I am going to make my jedi alt a master chef/master bioengineer. What tapes should I get and how does the 12pt crafter thing work or can this be explained a bit to me.

For artisan foods the Artisan experimentation CAs will increase your points that you can experiment with.
For chef foods the Chef Experimentation CAs will do the same.
Its not exactly rocket science.
You get an extra point to experiment with for every +10 CAs you have, with a cap of +25 that will actually have an effect on your crafting. +25 is the hard cap of how much you can gain from CAs.
So you'd need at least +20 Chef Experimentation to get to be a 12-pt master chef.
Assembly mods do not help to your experimentation, they only help on the initial assembly roll. They are not very useful to chefs since the good & amazing success assembles are not any different. As stated many times, I think its only useful as a PR Advertisement.
If you want your BE to have 12 points, you'd have to get Medical Experimentation.
And remember not to put CAs that have the same mod on the same piece of clothing, they will not add up, one will overwrite the other.

Medical Experimentation is not needed for BE components, as you can cap out with only 9 experiment points or so.
