Thread: Since your profession is still pretty messed up...
I thought you might be interested in this thread on the BH forum.

If I EVER decide I want to be a Bounty Hunter, please, somebody shoot me!
Can I shoot you anyway? I am bored.
WHile there is a LOT that can be done to improve the profession....I think this is going to be the first full month in the game were we are not completely messed up.
Sir Vimes,
If this is going to be the first full-month not messed up then I'll plan for a great month! The past three or four weeks has been a blast! I made a nice fortune, met some really amazing customers that respect my profession, met a couple holo-chefs including one Master, it was most sad watching her drop the Chef skills as I watched. I've trained not one, but three different novices, including training one to Master Chef! I've become a Master Merchant and share a shop with a really cool Master DE now. In fact, I moved from my small house to a Medium and still keep the small as my workshop. I'm having a blast playing chef and talking to warriors and others about food that would most benefit them! And I just love the Chef community we have here!
Can it get any better? I hope so, because I'm feeling pretty good right now and I don't want to spoil that!
Its like when i became a DE. As soon as i put the title on. I never had to advertise "Youra droid engineer? I need.." and i got a lot of orders. When i wear my chef titles (4/3/4/4 now) i get them to. But its more fun when im selling and you see the realization hit someone "Your a chef" (Note this was with expert bartender as my title). "Cool i want to help you profession. What do you have for action". Sure we arent perfect but i saw what they did with BE this month. I know DE's getting loving next month. And it gives me hope.
Allow me to clarify that thread a little bit. I am a bounty hunter, and though I personally do think that the FU thread was a little much, here's what was behind it for those of you who don't already know. We use 217 out of the 250 skills points learning our profession. From what was said from the developers before the game was released, the more skill points put into mastering a profession, the more advantages the character would enjoy. We have very little advantages over anyone. The investigation tree takes longer to master than any other tree in the game (although to be fair that will probably lessen dramatically since the introduction of vehicles). Before jedi were introduced, there was no good reason to do this tree except for more lucrative missions than normal and the ability to achieve master bounty hunter. However, with the time it took to do these mission, money was more easily earned doing a larger amount of cheaper missions. As for achieving master bounty hunter, aside from holding the very elite title, three special attacks were given. Out of these three, two are bugged and are definitely not worth working for. One of these is, from what I hear, quite nice. Even so, working for hundreds of hours to achieve one very nice special move is a waste of hundreds of hours in many people's opinions. As for the elite title, since the introduction of vehicles, this title will become less elite, as many holo hunters need to achieve master bounty hunter for their hunt. I'm not saying anything against these people, but you can see how if the one thing that set a master bounty hunter apart from anyone else in the game was the title, it would be annoying if everyone starting walking around with the same title. There are many people on the bounty hunting boards who have just achieved master bounty hunter in the last few weeks and have been playing since the game's release.
On to missions. Let's start with NPC missions, or in BH talk, Investigation 0-2 missions. You must complete from, I believe I've read somewhere, 150-170 bounty missions before you reach investigation 3 where missions get significantly harder. These "easy" missions can last anywhere from 10-30 minutes in duration each, since what happens is you get an NPC mark, he is somewhere else on the planet you are on, and you take a shuttle, hop on a mount (or vehicle now), take him out, and return. You can only have one mission active at once. Also, there are only certain cities, normally 1-2 per planet, that you can take these missions at. This means a lot of shuttle riding (and waiting) for these 150-170 missions. Now every now and then you will take a mission, wait 5 minutes for a shuttle to arrive, hop on a mount and ride out to the middle of nowhere (this has become easier since player cities have gone into effect. More shuttleports) and find your mark. However, he is white! You know how NPCs in cities will appear white on the radar? That's what I'm talking about. Your target you just spent 15 minutes finding is not even attackable, and you can stand right next to him and target him, but you can not attack. You have no option but to abort the mission when your mark is standing right in front of you and take another 15 minutes ride back to the mission terminal. Sometimes the mark will spawn inside a tree, a wall, or not even spawn, but you get the picture. Missions are bugged.
Now, you reach Investigation 3 after 200 attempted missions, 150 completed. Congradulations. Your missions now become much harder. You must chase your marks to different planets now! Exciting right? Wrong. See, it would be exciting, but the bugged marks are still part of the picture. What's more, now we add bugged droids to the picture. Lvl 3 bounty hunters use droids to track down their prey, but the droids do not always work. Sometimes they will tell you your mark is in a different location than he actually is. Sometimes they will lead you to the wrong planet. After waiting 5 minutes per mission at shuttleports for the last 150 missions (keep in mind that is a very low average), you have already waited 12 and a half hours at shuttleports doing Investigation 1 and 2. Now you go to the wrong place and have to wait for more shuttles. How annoying is that? But i digress.
Jedi! Finally in the last patch (not this, but previously) Jedi bounties were introduced. Long time bounty hunters rejoiced as their profession finally sees some action. They quickly discover that their bounty hunting droids do not work on Jedi. They also discover that the Jedi are alerted to the bounty placed on their head and can clear the bounty by logging off. But not to be deterred from their dream, a few hardcore bounty hunters decide to form a coalition. They create player networks ranging from fellow bounty hunters to dancers and musicians in cantinas. Bounty hunting at its best! Keep in mind, none of this should be necessary if our profession had simply worked the way it was supposed to. But we persevere and take down a precious few jedi.
The new patch is released and bounty hunters discover that droids still do not work right, they still can not be used to located Jedi, our profession is not even mentioned in the patch. The worst part of all? Jedi's names no longer appear on the mission terminals! Previous to this patch we could not track the Jedi by any other means except for our own wit, but now we don't even have the name of those we are supposed to be hunting! How rediculous is that? "Your mission is to hunt down the Jedi" The only way we would know which Jedi is our target is by going individually to every player in the galaxy and pressing attack. Granted, once we found the right guy we would be able to attack him and would get our reward. However, is it worth interrogating every single player on the server to get our 125k credits? That's just ludicrous!
I have more respect for humanity than to start a thread that's only intention is to curse someone out, but I do understand where they are coming from. I also do not like it when someone ruins things for other people. The thread that was started in the BH forum today was embarassing for me, but I do not want you to think that all BH are like that, and I do think that our profession deserves some respect. We have not gotten a single piece of feedback on our board by a dev for months. Some of us are starting to give up hope of every getting recognized. The fact that that thread was started and is still up almost a day later is evidence that the devs really do not pay any attention to us! I understand that acting like babies is going to get us nowhere, but when we have tried to be rational since release (because some of our problems have been outstanding that long) and have gotten no response, not even a "we're working on it", you can see how some BHs might be a little perturbed.
My husband plays a bounty hunter. I understand the problems. But as you said, that thread was...well I dont need to say what it was. But you have to understand, BHs arent the only class in the game that is broken. Everyone is going to be fixed but it is gonna take time. No one wants to wait, not us, not you, not DEs, nor pikemen, nor smugglers, nor anyone else. I would suggest that if you are trying to win sympathy, you might want to leave out the fact that your missions pay 125k, especially when talking to people that get 2k missions. Chefs have had so many ridiculous problems its just pitiful. Its the only class I know where people come up to you and go...man youve got to be stupid that class has no purpose and devs plan to cut your class out of the game as soon as they can.Its also the only class I know of that spent an entire month crafting and killing people as a result of it. As ageneral rule, chef forum doesnt act like a bunch 12 yr old bratty kids usually. We arent really interested in pissing matches or cussing matches or seeing who can be the most vulgar or who has the best gun or any of that other junk that seems to be everywhere. The guy who made tho post was way out of line...the people participating in the post were largely way out of line and coming here to try to incite chefs to join in the debacle was also out of line. Trust me, we feel the pain of an overlooked class. I honestly am not sure if a Dev has EVER posted on the board. Personally, I dont recall it.
I would suggest that your class might get more attention if you didnt going around pulling stunts like that. You already know the thread was just wrong. Theres really no point to try to come here and make an explanation for your BH cohorts as there is nothing that can be said to justify it.
Well, I'm not going to lie to you and say we don't get 125k missions, but if you think about it, since nothing works really we get 0k missions. ![]()
Anyway, I'm not trying to rally troops to join in the bounty hunting fight, and I realize that other professions are also bugged, but there are still a few things about BH that led to that post. We are supposed to be the "population control" for Jedi. That is not a self-imposed importance either, but released by the devs. (They talk!) However, the longer we go without fixes, the stronger the Jedi get. Jedi are supposed to, at a certain level, be able to take a lot of combat and leave unscathed. That's one of the main reasons we are worried. The longer we go without that specific fix the less likely we will be able to do anything once it is fixed. Also, like I said before, we were doing our best with what little we had and now even that has been taken away (the jedi's names from our missions.) It almost feels like the devs are intentionally trying to pick on us.
I suppose nothing can "justify" what was posted on the BH boards, but at least I can let you see that the vast majority of BHs are not total jerks right? I also feel bad posting all this BH stuff on you guys boards, but hey, you started it. ![]()
