Hey guys,

I recently made master chef, and i am also a master BE. I havnt had too much time too play with either a lot so thats why this sounds like a newb question, but when experimenting...should you experiment one row (ei. filling) the full way...or should you do it one box at a time?

Also whats the best thing (in your opinions) to experiment on?

One last thing how many exp points do you guys have and how many +1 to experintation does it take to get 1 real expermintation point? (okay i hope that makes sence to n e of you, because i barely get it..lol) Thank you for helping. And if you feel the need to flame me...flame on!

/obligatory flaming

You got to Master Chef and Master BE without figuring out experimentation?!? What kind of grinding n00b are you? I mean, that's only the most important thing about crafting!!! Geeze, try playing the game why don't you!

Sorry, I think the late hour is making me grumpy. You had a question?

Oh, right. The success of the experimentat depends on a few things: your experimentation (and maybe assembly) skill modifier, the quality of your crafting tool, the quality of your crafting station, whether you're in a player city with the "research specialization", the complexity of the item, whether you're under the effect of Bespin Port, and how many points you spend on each experiment. As you put more points in, the "risk" indicator on the right side starts going up. The "safest" way to experiment is 2-3 points at a time, at Master this practically guarantees you a great succes. And you seem to get better results if you do them all in one category rather than a point in 2-3 rows.

The downside is that you miss out on benefiting from those rare "amazing successes". When you get a great success, that category gains 7% per point spent. When you get an amazing, it gains 8% per point spent. So if you run an experiment with 7 points and get an amazing, your final product will have the equivalent of a whole extra point (an additional 7%). If you spend three points, you only benefit 3%.

You get one experimentation point for every +10 in "{whatever} Experimentation" skill. For food from the chef tree, that'll obviously be "Food Experimentation". For food in Domestic Arts, that's "Artisan Experimentation". So you'll need at least +10 worth of skill tapes before gaining an additional experimentation point, although I do believe you get the benefit of better experimentation successes even if you only have +9.

As for what to experiment on, that really depends on how you want the food to turn out. Some categories (usually quantity and filling) can have very narrow ranges and are always whole numbers, so you may need to spend 3-4 points to get an increase. I think I laid out most of the pros and cons here:
