Thread: Smuggler's Delight Comments from a Smuggler

I play a Master Smuggler on Starsider. Recently, I teamed up with a Master Chef to produce some Smuggler's Delight that I would sell on my Spice vendor - kinda as something extra that my customers could use.

The problem with this food is that the resource requirements make prodcuing mass quanities tough. The Milk requirement is a headache as is makes mass production very difficult AND expensive. There is also the bug with 100% experimented Smuggler's Delight that causes the food to have no effect. 99% Smuggler's Delight is thebest that can be produced that actually works.

Is this food useful? Yes it is. But it isn't cost effective. Firstly, you can't produce stacks of it. A crate of 25 Smuggler's Delight means you get just 25, unlike other foods where you might get 3 or more per stack. Secondly, considering the benefits gained from it, customers aren't willing to pay very much when it ends up costing more than the Spice itself.

I don't know what other problems Chefs are having (I'm assuming that there are since every profession seems to have them), but it would be great for BOTH Chefs and Smugglers if the devs were to change the resource requirement of Smuggler's Delight so that it becomes cheaper for Chefs to produce. We have already seen, as with the case of Wookiee armour, that the devs are willing to change resource requirements based on feedback so i'm hoping that one day they would be willing to change the resource requirements of Smuggler's Delight.

Sorry but I don't agree at all.

spice has a down time thats it's draw back. Food has fill and a large cost, those are it's two limiting factors.

If smugglers delight was easy and cheap to make then everyone would use it all the time. A music + dance buff, 2 brandy, canape and spice ? If you're going to use all that then it should cost you.

I'm not arguing that it shouldn't cost, but right now, it costs too much to be cost effective for any user. A single hit of Muon Gold or Neutron Pixie would be around 500 credits whereas a single hit of Smuggler's Delight would be a lot lot more.

Besides, wouldn't you want something that people would use all the time? I agree that it should cost the end user, but to justify that cost, then the stack size should also be increased. Getting only 1 hit per stack is crazy considering that you can get other foods with 3-6 hits per stack. Atleast if the stack size were increased, it would justify the high cost.

Completely agree.

Its like what happened with Brandy. Its so useful that it became mandatory for most fighters.

Increasing the effectiveness (stack size), or the bug with 100% reduction would be nice.

But I don't find the resource requirements too difficult. Though I won't expect any changes to chef schematics for awhile.

Aye, I know what you mean. The devs have enough on their plates at the moment.

I guess the ways to make Smuggler's Delight a more important food to customers is:

- Increase the stack size so that the customers get more value for their money

- Fix the 100% experimentation bug

- Possibly change the Milk requirement so that it becomes easier to mass produce. At the moment you need to get 1000 units of Milk for just one crate.

And yet Smuggler's sells ok for me, despite being my most expensive offering. I don't really understand it, but if people are buying it and using it and sending me /tells requesting it when my vendor runs out, then I guess it's not useless.

A food doesn't have to be useful for everybody, and I'd argue against the notion that any food should be "something that people would use all the time". I'd much rather there be a wide variety of useful foods and that a player selects his meals based on the situation, instead of there being a standard set of foods that are always used because they're plainly better than the alternatives.

I understand what you mean and I perhaps should have phrased my words differently. What I was trying to get at was that it would be great if Smugglers Delight became one of those Chef foods which the player base would become more interested in. Items like Brandy, Canape, Synthsteak etc. are good sellers because the benefits are obvious and Chefs are able to stock good amounts of those items.

It is great to hear that you are able to sell SD well, but on Starsider atleast, none of the vendors i've checked ever have SD on them. I've been working closely with Master Chef Vomit to push out as many crates of the stuff as possible through my Spice vendor so as to get the populace more interested in this food which, given the right situation, can be very useful.

Ya, I think the reason you don't really see it on a lot ofvendors is becauseof the milk requirement.

It ispretty difficult tofind milk ingame unless you pull up your sleeves and milk those cows yourself or have friends/guildies do it for you. Especially good quality milk.

Imake Smuggler's Delight when Iam able to, and I have one customer, a Master Smuggler, who buys them all when he sees them onmy vendor. So it's worth it to me to continue making them, but it's definitely not something I could really do on a mass scale continuously, like we do for brandy or canape.

It's too bad there haven't been any folks who wanted to become professional milkers, but I can understand why -- it's pretty boring work. Thank god for guild chat or I would have gone bonkers the couple of days I was farming when my home planet's milk was good.
