Thread: Who is the current Chef Correspondent and a quesion about synsteak
i crafted some synsteak on tc-ep3, got it up to almost 60sec. but why so low on the timer? with attack cooldowns it makes no sence. lets say it affects 27 attacks, can you even be hit 27 times within a min? can we at least get a 10min timer on it like accragram? (btw accragram WILL replace brandy imho)
so guess my point is are you talking with the devs about the current chef issues? have they given any feedback?
oh ya is there a list of what all the foods do now? i dont feel like making one of each just to find out
man food is gonna pwn in the cu

Food doesnt stack atm.
Synthsteak doesnt have a hit-count anymore. It will give u a bonus to mitigation for some time. Thats it.
And yes, duration is pretty short considering the (about) min. 20 Filling.
And by the way: I think its all intended. Why should we be able to über-buff us with food when all the other buffs have been hit by the nerf-bat? I mean: Food (and drinks) will give a nice buff, but I really think they tried to make it impossible to be perma-buffed with it like on live. (ie Brandy: Fill49/40:00=perma buff)

If by "pwn" you mean have less power, less duration, higher filling, and 30% of the recipes overlap to the point that one becomes nearly worthless.....then yes, it will "pwn"

I believe the armor and doctor buff nerf was plenty. Would have created a great challenge to every type of player. To take the foods and drinks away or at least make them useless with timers equivalent to pre-patch chef will hurt in the long run. I can remember a time when nobody used foods or drinks because it only lasted 5 or 6 minutes so what was the point. Might find a small use for it in pvp but forget pve.I liked the current chef menu as it was and it served a great purpose. Would have been even more useful after the patch if the durations weren't beaten to death.
A big fat QFE for you Sling.
I remember the pre-chef revamp menu. It wasa lot like this. Horrible duration, high filling, low buff. Anyone else remember how popular food was before the Chef revamp? I do. It wasn't.
I became remarkably silent on the Chef boards when I first saw the new menu up close and personal. I have two characters on the TC servers, and I have seen and played with them a good deal. Since most of what I observed was already documented here, I havent posted much. And a BIG hats off to all the Chefs that have been working hard to bring all this data to us. You guys have done a great job, and it has been much appreciated.
Why havent I posted anything? I just didnt know what else to say. I hate being negative, and the bottom line is that this stinks to high heaven like a rollback to the pre-chef revamp days. I have already said more than I like to, and I am not saying that Chef will not be a viable profession. But the challenge, excitement, and fulfillment I once got from being a Chef has waned in the last few weeks. Whats the point in having the best resources when your food will have 46 fill and another Chef will have 50 fill? When the duration is only a few minutes anyway....why does filling even really matter? Following that line of thought...if the duration is only a few minutes, why would another minute really matter that much? Granted, there are some foods that will be relatively useful...but this seems pretty damn sad.
I remember the fun in really working to get a 50 fill vercupti. I remember the fun in getting a 33fill Canape over +720. It took time, patience, and lots of work. It gave me something to shoot for. There was always the next frontier...there was always another level to be reached in the food. Perhaps that will happen here...but its kind of hard for me to get excited about pushing the duration on my synthsteak from 64 seconds to 75 seconds. Once again, I hate to sound despondent or pessimistic. But to be honest, I am having a hard time finding the desire to craft food...or even to play at all. Especially now that it appears that someof pre-CU food seems to convert to static specs no matter what the specs on it were. Not sure if this will be changed, but whats the point of making really good brandy that will convert to the same specs as mediocre brandy will when the CU hits?
I am sorry....I did not mean to bring this out here. But I did, and I wont erase it now. ![]()

QFE (again.)
Im having a really tough time being excited for the CU. And with everyone being unsure of whats going to happen I don't want to stock my vendors, theres too much to lose. This is so far the only prof in game Ive had a passion for so it makes me wonder why Im still paying my 15 a month
So by continually switching off, you only really need to be able to tank a krayt for 5 minutes and keep food going that long.
Against low lvl mobs though... chef is going to be pointless. The devs need to make some food with a huge timer and crap stats and some with the opposite.
