Thread: An idea about factories, stack size, and markets for Novice vs. Master Chefs
Some of you might like this idea, some of you might not, but at least consider it before shooting it down for those of you who don't care for it.
This idea came about with the post about removing the experimental field for quantity. Personally, I think this is a good idea. When you make food in real life, when you use the same amount of resources, you get the same amount of food. i.e. 2 pieces of bread and a spoonful of peanut butter will always result in one sandwich, which will always fill you up the same amount (no matter how many bites it takes you to eat it). You can cut in into 2 (or 4, or whatever) pieces, but you still have the same amount of peanut butter sandwich when you're done. This would also free up more experimentation points for us to put into making our buffs better and longer lasting.
So let's say that a Rhyscate (it's been talked about a lot lately, so I'm using it as an example), would always be made with 8 uses. Here's my proposal:
When you make that Rhyscate by hand, it comes out with 8 uses. When you make it in a factory, it comes out with less (be that 4, 6, or whatever).
Now I know what some of you are saying to yourselves right about now. What the heck is this idiot thinking? Well, I've got a game related reason, and a reality based reason.
The game based reason is that this would provide a buff market for up-and-coming chefs (i.e. who haven't fit master), who would sell to lower end players who can't afford a crate of food. Themaster chefs market would be the high-end player, who wants to have a lot of buffs in a small amount of inventory space.
The real life reason is that a hand made item from a chef will be better than food that is mass produced in a factory. It's not really sensible in terms of the game mechanics for this to be reflected by lowering the buff, so it can instead be reflected by the smaller stack size (i.e. eating the food is not as "satisfying").
I'm very open to comments on this idea, and I'm more than willing to clarify what I meant by any part of this idea which I perhaps did not state very clearly. I wrote it out about 5 minutes after thinking out the idea, because I wanted to hear what some of you thought about the idea. Anyways, post and/or flame away.
Totally disagree.
As a master chef, I did the fill orders by hand thing for customers. I refuse to make items by hand unless I absolutely have to. Making hand made food better then factory food is stupid and unfun. There is also the technicial matters to consider. They can't do it. Thank god this is one thing the devs won't do. (I'm not shooting you down, just the idea.)
