Thread: New Chef with question....
Also, is it worth using resources now for smaller yielding foods now before I finish BE or should I just wait for that?
Most chefs who use BE ingredients find that the quantity-increasing tissues aren't as in-demand as nutritives, partly because of the illogical uberness of nutritive tissues over all of the others, partly because qy-tissues are harder to make, and partly because customers would rather buy multiple crates of unenhanced food rather than one extremely expensive crate of unenhanced food. So yes, go ahead and make stuff, people *will* buy it.
Ok then...next question...
I am on Starsider, and I know different servers with different berries are different....BUT
What are good stats for the big sellers without BE additives? brandy, canape, bivoli, any other big sellers....
Brandy - get the buff 200+, 50 filling, dump the rest into duration (40+). Same with Accarragm. Garrmorl, well, is gated, but still sells unenhanced.
Canape - get the filling to 33, dump the rest into buff, if you have any left over, duration. Same with Kiwik and Won-Wons.
Ahrisa - filling to 33, buff to 200+, everything else into duration. Same with Gruuvan and Scrimpi.
Bivoli, you're aiming for over 10 in buff, get the quantity to 3 and the rest into duration.
Check some chefs on your server too and see what they're producing with the resources you all have over there.
Depends on what you are crafting and your costs. Casks are expensive to make - they take 150 crystalline gemstone and 2 trim each for a total of 200 resources. They triple the amount of servings in each drink. So depending on your server economy, if 200 grinding resources cost less than twice as much as the higher quality ingredients you're putting in your food, casks are improving your profit margin.
For instance, on my server, high quality flora go for 6-10 cpu and decent quality meats for about 30 cpu, while grinding resources go for about 2.5 cpu, and I'm paying about 40k per crate for good broad spectrum nutrients and about 4k for trim. For un-enhanced Accarragm, I'm using 20 grinding cereal, 10 grind gemstone (for the small glass),and 30 high quality flora, for a cost of about 315 credits per stack. The casked drink costs 790 credits to make. This isn't enough of an improvement for me personally to bother making the casks. However, BE ingredients are expensive, so all my bio-enhanced drinks get casks. Most of the un-enhanced ones do as well, since they are significantly more expensive to make than Accarragm.
There are those who say if you make casks you're just shooting yourself in the foot, since you sell someone a crate that lasts so long they won't be back to your shop regularly. They insist on using small glasses to make fewer servings per crate even though it costs a lot more to make food that way. I just use casks and then break the crates into smaller packs (crates of 5 instead of 25). It accomplishes about the same thing without cutting into my profits.
