Hey, I was deciding if i should be a chef or not...and some say that most Chefs have also to be a BE too...can someone explain this please?
And do factories take lots?
What factories does a chef use?
Whats more benificial? Buying recources or harvesting your own?
What recources do chefs use most? Or is their a complete list?
What do most chefs put their experimental points twards?
What are the foods that chefs eat again to help craft?
Can anyone point me to some guides about this too?
And any other suggestions you have for me would be appreciated...
Lol you probably can tell Ive never crafted before in my life...i rather hit things on top of the head with my glowstick...but i need some money...and chef looks intresting. Any Responses would be appreciated...

Chef foods take optional components created by a BE. However, these components (called "tissues" by most people, although I don't know if there's a specific in-game name) are so beneficial that if you don't use them, your food won't sell nearly as well. You can buy tissues from other players who have taken up BE, or take the BE skills yourself to make your own. Making your own is almost always cheaper, but it does take more work.
Yes, factories take up lots. I'm pretty sure they all use one lot (although structural factories may still be 2).
Chef's use food factories.
Depends on how you want to spend your time, and the resource market on your server. Gathering your own flora resources (requires only harvesters) does increase your profit, since harvested resources cost less than 1 cpu to pull out of the ground. Getting your own creature resources is a bit tougher, since you have to spend points in scout and a combat prof to go hunting your own meat. Personally, I stuck with mostly harvesting my own flora (especially stuff for components where quality doesn't matter), occasionally getting my own meat, and keeping in contact with some well-known resource vendors / hunters to keep me stocked.
There's a food chart in the "Read this" sticky with the resource requirements of each food. The most used resources are probably fruits, berries, and wheat (although this can vary depending on what you're making).
Usually the majority of experimentation is done in Nutrition (since that controls buff size), with the rest going into flavor (which controls buff duration). This can vary, though.
The crafting foods are Bespin Port (improves chances for amazing success on the next experiment) and Pyollean Cake (improves chances for amazing success on next assembly).
There's an FAQ in the "Read This" sticky that covers just about everything in Chef. It was originally done pre-CU, but most of it is still correct. The only major thing in it that changed is that you can no longer eat subcomponents (soypro) for usage xp.
If you're looking to get into this for some easy money, you may be disappointed. Since product quality matters, the best sellilng foods are made by people who have gathered (either themselves or through purchases) a good hoard of high-quality resources, gotten the skill tapes to get the extra 2 experimentation poitns (requires +20 worth of food experimentation tapes), keep a constantly stocked vendor, and sometimes just luck with getting your name out to the market.

Chef isnt a "get rich quick" profession any more, it is not just a matter of filling a vendor with Brandy and Canape and counting the cash as it rolls in. It is time consuming and it can take months to get a business established with a regular customer base. You need to stock a quite large range of foods and that means you need a good and varied stock of resources. Let your vendors be empty for one weekend and you will have to start again as many of your customers will just jump to the next chef that has stock.
I mastered chef about 3 months ago and spent over 10 million on resources just to get me started, I have probably spentthe same againsince and I dont have enough left in my bank to buy an AV-21.
