Thread: newbie experimentation question =(
is it the same as experimenting each box one at a time and getting an amazing on each?
thanks =)
getting 5 amazings in a row seems pretty unlikely so i'm wondering why anyone would do that or if my knowledge is flawed
sorry if this is really newbie question =( i read a bunch of FAQs and couldn't get a straight out answer on this
thanks again =)
- Number of points spent per experiment(more points = less likely)
- Your +Food Experimentation skill mod (the higher this is, the better your odds are getting an amazing). You get +100 at Master Chef, and can get up to +25 from skill tape bonuses.
- Tool quality (max is +15)
- Station quality(max is +45)
- Force Sensitive Experimentation skills (gained by doing village quests, gives +20 for full branch, and does not give more points)
- Bonus from Bespin Port (max is +12, maybe +13 with really good resources)
- Bonus from being in a city with Research Specialization (you don't have to be resident, just within city limits). This is either +15 or +15% of your total bonuses, not sure about the exact implementation.
Amazing success might actually be the norm for someone with all of those who spends one point at a time.
It's also unclear whether tool/station quality, Force Sensitive skills, Bespin Port and city bonus counts "equally" with your Experimentation mod. The devs don't want us to know all the nitty-gritty details inside the crafting system, so they won't tell us. ![]()
However, that has nothing to do with the question. Your question has been answered.

So going past +20 that gives you the 12 exp points actually makes a difference? Is this official or just conjecture?
Do you guys actually see a diff. using bespin port vs. without? I know its sad given that we make the product, but I really don't seem to see a difference using a +11 Bespin Port vs. without it. Experimenting one point at a time vs. 4 or more, seems to often make a differenceto me, but the port doesn't. It also seems that the better the resources, the more often I will get amazings... and it also seems very stable, like if I get three amazings on a product or only one, that these happen at exactly the same spot every time I craft it with almost no variation. That seems odd to me as it should be more random than that but /shrug it just doesn't seem to be the case with my toon anyways.
Thoughts?

Things that contribute to getting better successes when experimenting:
- Number of points spent per experiment(more points = less likely)

It sounds logical, but how come i got extreme difficulty in getting an amazing when i need just a 3 pt amazing or less? I can easily get an amazing if i use 7 points or more at a time. But i usually have to spend several crates of tissues on getting a schematic, if that schematic includes an amazing in 3 pts or less.
I can't tell why, cause it doesn't sound logical to me. But that's how it works for me. Every single time.

The nutrition resulted in a amazing success roll, but the flavor didnt(it hit what it would hit on greats)
Just wondering if this is working as intended or am I missing something?
