Hi guys,
I was just wondering, we have started a city but lack a cantina and Neither of us are chefs or entertainers. Is it possible to get a chef to place it then to have it transfered to me? Or does it just not let you?

From what I understand (unless it's changed recently) you need to have the necessary skills in order to drop a building with skill requirements. I had a merchant tent that was awaiting it's transfer to me, but I had to get the appropriate skills before I was able to have it handed over. The same goes for med centers, unfortunately.

damn that needs changing, do you know if you have to keep the skill? like say if i mastered chef then dropped it, would I lose the cantina?

Idon't agree that it should be changed. The point of the Cantina & Medical Center buildings was that players with the necessary skills should own them. Call it a 'perk' of the profession if you like. Similarly the Merchant Tents are named like that for a reason

Well the thing is we need a cantina, I've done chef, and I have my skill points in use for other things. We have chefs but I do not trust them enough to be on admin with all my rare paintings, surely you see my point?

ok, heres the skinny on cantinas (and in a way theaters).
1) you have to be a master dancer, musician, or chef to place a cantina (dancer or musician for a theater). after a cantina is placed you can give up the skill(s) needed to place it to persue other professions.
2) if you decide to transfer it, the person you are transfering to must be able to place a cantina (by being master dancer, musician, or chef). the game only makes the structure check on the structures when you're placing or transferring a cantina.
that's that as far as owning a cantina goes. prolly not the answer you're looking for, but thats how SOE has made the rules.
oh, and they take 5 lots, just thought i'd throw that bit of info in as well.
