I'm working on a template that includes Chef 0040, my question is how important is Surverying I-IV? The template i've come up with won't leave me enough skill credits to take surverying, will this be a huge problem?

Ehhh....surveying helps, but its not necessary. You can find everything with novice artisan that you can find with SUrveying 4. The only difference is that you find it quicker with surveying skills.

Can I ask why you are doing Chef 0040 though? Chef is one of those professions where you pretty much have to master it (or come close to it) in order to make it worthwhile. At least that is true MOST of the time....which is why I am interested in your template. Sounds interesting. Tell us more.

hehe, dont do it! Once you go chef you cant go back ... once you start out,you realizeits bioengineer all the way, and all your skillpoints will forever be dominated by the path of the darkside!

Well see......heres the deal......

To make good brandy or accarragm, you need:

1. Good resources
2. Good BE additives
3. As many experimentation points as possible

That is what concerns me about your template (and why I asked). With this template, you will only have 2 experimentation points. That is very low, considering a Master Chef has 10. Even a 0044 Chef has 9 points. Experimentation in Chef adds a LOT to the final product in many cases. So that is one concern.

But more importantly, I am assuming you are doing this so you dont have to buy brandy and accarragm. In order for this to make sense for you then, you will need to watch your costs. You will have to buy the BE additives for these foods to get them to the buff level you are used to. That will cost 25-50k per crate, depending on your server. Then you will need to harvest all of your own resources if possible.

If you can do both of these, and if you catch a few good shifts of the resources you need, you might be able to make this work for you....as long as you dont need to have the best food out there. You could of course buy the resources you will need, but it will be expensive to do so.

I would give it a shot, with the expectation that your food will be less powerful than that of even a new Master Chef. It takes time to acquire good resources and find a good supplier for the BE additives you will need. You could always forget about the BE additives entirely, but that will make your food a LOT less potent than what you are used to.

I mention these points not to discourage you, but to let you know what to expect. Its very hard to jump into the Chef profession. The resources are key, as is the experimentation. So try it out and see what happens. If you hit a snag, let us know. We are happy to help out if we can.

For what your going to be using chef for I think surveying will be useless.

You will need to buy BE tissues and Trim for each crate of food you make. Because you will only have 1 exp point, stats on resources really don't matter much. The difference between complete crap and godly resources is going to be about 15-20 buff points at most.

You will be limited to about +320-330 buff on both of those I believe. You would need 0044 to get around 375 or so.

Realize that the cost for each crate will be around 50-60k plus the resources(for alcohol, casks, final assembly). So probably about 70k a crate.

IMO its not worth the effort in making it, but its obviously your choice. If a chef could make exceptional food on their own it would be different but the requirement for BE tissues makes that hard.

Thanks for letting me know that about the BE foods, you just saved me a lot of time grinding. Looks like i'll be spending my skill points elsewhere.
