Hello all, I've decided to become a chef. I'm also TKM, so I don't want to drop it. I have a few simple questions...
A) Is it worth it to go master artisan?
B) What kind of harvesters do I need?
C) Do the FS crafting branches make that big of difference?
D) Should I make a long term contract with a BE and ranger?
E) What exactly does a portable stove draft schematic make?
Well I hope to hear from you all, and thx in advance.

A: not necessarily as only a few foods are artisan exclusive. All you need is the fourth boxes in the two crafting columns of artisan to get all the bonuses to crafting. Master really gives you very little
B: Flora,Moisture, chemical, and more flora. I just buy the water and gemstone for crafting so that will knock 2 of them off
C:Not Sure
D: Definately. They will determine what kind of chef you will be.
E:A portable stove--decoration only

A) Yes, but not necessary. There are several Artisan foods that sell quite well though, so if you have the points to spare its not a bad idea. Since you will be getting Biz 4, Surveying 4, and Dom Arts 4, ANd Engi 4 if you are making arisan foods....it cant hurt.
B) Flora is most important, followed by a smattering of others. You should get a couple Chemical, mineral, water, and fusions. You will use water in a LOT of things, you need a ton of Cystalline gemstone, fiberplast and other chem to make trim for casks, and a few fusions to pop down when you have the slots to grab power for all your other harvs.
C) The FS Experimentation branches do help for Chef, although there has been a lot of discussion as to whether they do stack with Research city bonus and Bespin. Generally the consensus is YES....but this is remarkably difficult to prove. The FS repair tree is completely worthless to a Chef.
D) Find a BE, love him/her, pet them, hold them, respect them, pay them well. A BE that keeps stocked all the time with a wide range of additives, takes special orders, and charges a fair price is worth a TREMENDOUS AMOUNT to you. If you cant pick up BE yourself, this is absolutely essential. Having a good dependable Ranger by your side is also a wonderful thing.
E) It makes a stove that looks like the stove in the Scout camps. It does absolutely nothing. The Kitchen Utensil Schem is the same way, only it makes a shiny set of cooking utensils. Both are entirely decorative.
Hope this helps bud!

I have 4000 Force Experimentation. I notice a difference, but it still may take me 25 tries to get 3 amazings in a row.

I definitely want to hear about it
Now that I've mastered fencer, I'm going to start a MBE/MChef alt, with some novice merchant thrown in (maybe 0-0-1-3, not sure yet).

I just bought 10 heavy flora farms and started harvesting low grade berries. Are berries what I'll use to grind the most? Another question...
Would it be a good idea to start buying experimentation attachments/clothes?

If you have the money to spare with all the start-up expenses (and you know you're going to stick with chef) its never a bad idea to start shopping for tapes. It took me two months to get my 11th point but it was definitely worth it. Big difference!

The best grind item to get to Master is Kiwik Swirl in Desserts 3, it uses 40 berries + 20 fruits + 20 water, so those berries will come in handy. To get to Desserts 3, the easiest way is generally to make soypro (don't use practice mode, just eat the resulting item for usage xp), then pastebread. So you'll also want some wheat, oats, and vegetables.
And if you've got the money, it's never too early to start buying +experimentation attachments. I stongly suggest starting with a crafting apron, that gives you +5, and generally goes for roughly 200k. Considering a +5 tape can go for 1 to 5 million, that's a good deal. If you can't find one for sale, you could go through the Jabba's palacetheme park, the apron schematic is a reward from Jabba's cook (although you're not guaranteed a chef version, it could also give doctor, tailor, or architect bonuses).
