I take it you never saw foods in their previous incarnation?

Be thankful we have what we have, it was alot worse before.

And honestly, what new food what you make? Think about it, apart from changing some stats around on some foods to make them a little more usable there's nothing i can think of that would either be too powerful or simply not worth the effort.

But i'd be all ears to hear some cool ideas.

I have heard a couple of the chefs on my server complaining about how we need new foods. They only carry the staples though - ahrisa, brandy, canape, vercupti etc etc.

If you're really bored try making the less common foods. Sure, they don't sell as much as say brandy does, but that doesn't mean there isn't a market for them. I have some food go unsuccesful, but you'd be surprised at how little considering I make 38 different foods at the moment (and that's not counting the different versions of the same food/drink).

I'm sorry, but I really can't see the point in complaining about the lack of variety in food when at least 90% of chefs make only like 10% of the ones already available.

I agree with possibly changing some of the stats around to make them more useful, things that have been complainted about for ages such as Smuggler Delight which is essentially useless in its current incarnation. The other thing that would be nice is if each food actually looked different instead of repeating the graphics of the same three or four things...

I have an idea going on another post which I think would satisfy some of the shortfalls - short lifespan foods (from craft) to be utilised during raids etc. Doesn't seem to unbalance the game, gives Chef's adventuring opportunities and a new food range to craft. If it was implemented during (or as part of) the CU I think it could add a nice level of depth to Chef, and broaden the teamwork required for some harder dungeons. There are some misgivings eg trade during combat, non-combat Chef's cannot compete. It's probably too late for the CU, but some support at this stage may take the Dev's notice and be looked at for the future.
I'm not a Chef at mo, but it was my 1st crafting prof over a year ago and I'm looking forward to revisiting. Although it's true the Chef range is much improved from the initial (God knows which pre-publish) - it can be built on without upsetting the balance.

I've found that a lot of the foods do really well if you're willing to stock them. Variety is the name of the game and just having the staples is a really boring thing to do. You need to separate yourself from the other chefs out there. I used to give out free samples and offer singles on the bazarr so people at least knew my name. The only complaint that I can give about chef is that I wish that they had kept the old food graphics and put them on some of the new foods (everything looks likeahrisaand canapes). Everything has had a use one way or the other.

Try making some thakitillo or perhaps some parawan nutricake. Want to make the entertainers happy? Make some accaragm for them! Think of each class in this game and you'll find that each class use different supplies. Believe me, once you notice that, you won't have the free time to *want* new foods
