I believe its called Vegisparine or something like that and is around +80 melee def. Has anyone confirmed if this food is working or not? I have heard that it is not. Thoughts?

I belive that the damage amount are reduced while eating this food rather then having more chance to avoid an attack.

I know what with my combat toon eating my 89 vegeparsine doesn't seem to improve my chance of getting hit less... I didn't pay close attention to the damage being inflicted though, so thats something to look out for.

I will need more evidence before I start making more of these food. I used to make this and pikatta pie before the CU for my jedi and for sale and it was a great help before.. but now.. well I'll need more testing before I'm convinced.

I guess I need to get my toon out to do some killing, or find a guild to help me test these new food.

I really don't think defense and accuracy foods change damage taken or inflicted as a lot of people are saying. At least when I tried vegeparsine in pve it made the same lvl critter I was fighting miss some 6% more than without. There was 0 change in the damage I took, though. I don't really think vege makes a big difference in pvp, but every little bit helps, especially since attacks come in slower now

I'm making 102 melee def for around 18 minutesand my factories haven't stopped running since the CU. Between running that and Elshandruu, I'm staying busy. I do know that with this and elshandruu in my belly, my stats show up as 389 melee def/370 ranged defense.

I made some +97 vegparsine last night, and tested it out. I saw my melee defense stats change, but I did not notice any difference in the amount of damage that I was taking. I dont know about the hit/ratio of the the mob against me. It would be nice to know if this food works, as everyone is asking for it.

Makes stuff miss you more often. Depends on your pre-vege melee defense, what you're fighting and prolly several other factors. I can say almost certainly that it is working to make things miss you more often.

Someone in the carbineer forums did an ingame test on defenses. Lucky for some us there are number crunchers in this game, hehe

Melee defenses do indeed work. Mobs don't miss you more often, the damage reduced per hit is the bonus.

well we have some conflicting answers: some are sayign it doesn't decrease damage taken per hit, others are saying it does. In my experience it doesn't seem to lower damage at all.

would like an "official" word on the matter

Log in and try for yourselves

Pikatta pie does decrease the damage you take... I think the pikatta I have decreased the dmg i was taking by 12.5%. Vegeparsine does NOT affect dmg taken. However both increase the number of times you're missed in combat. Run a test... let something hit you for 5min or whatever and take screenies of your combat log. Then take pikatta or vege and repeat. Compare the % misses before and after and you have yourself a decent idea of how they'll affect your character against whatever you were fighting. When i did it with my jedi against lvl 80 critters 54% pikatta made them miss me about 7-8% more and +100 vege made them miss me about 6-7% more.
