I believe that ANYONE who is effected in ANY way should be able to opt out of a chosen proffession.
Sorry but these foods are all the SAME! They all DO basically the SAME thing.....
Anyone else disheartend and want a respec as well?

I personally will not respec chef away, however I do believe they should allow everyone to respec, except Jedi in Negative Jedi xp, that desires to do so.
I was reading an article on Rage of Wookies over on Gamespy that seemed to imply folks might be able to respec race using IDs somehow.....but I don't know can't always believe everything said over on all the gaming sites.

Too many professions are being altered from their original state not to warrant an across-the-board respec opportunity. I'm personally looking forward to the CU, but having all crafting toons I feel the need to power-grind one of them into a combat class before the CU or risk being obsolete

I agree. Without a respec, I'll be cancelling probably two accounts. Just don't see a possiblity of enjoying them as is and I'm not going to grind again... I took way too much time for the grind so I could enjoy them..
Let me enjoy them

I totally disagree!!!
Why should aI who spent time collecting and buying the resources as well as crafting my way to master chef (took bloody ages) be on the same terms as someone who macro' TKM before the CU so they can just respec over to chef to make some money!! There are plenty of people who planned to do this and it pi55ed me off.
If you wanna be a chef go through the grind otherwise stick with fighting quenkers!!

I'm currently grinding chef and BE, and both are a bit slower than my main toon's master fencer/master doctor took. However, I could care less if someone else gets to master chef with a click of a button while I've spent over a month grinding it out.
The reason? The FU... er... CU isn't really so much an upgrade as it is SWG 2.0. All professions will become different, and someone who mastered another prof ought to be able to trade those points for anything, rather than grind from noob up. If I didn't have my alt, and I already know I'm going to hate fencer and doctor, I would love to respec to anything. If I couldn't, I'd probably quit, rather than be a noob all over again.
Sorry your grind took so long, and you feel like you have to pee a circle around it, but there are tons of folks who took a long time to grind to their master professions as well, and they ought to be given the chance to completely respec if they wish.

You will see in my sig that I have had a number of professions, some easy grind and some not so easy. What I did not have to do with the mmajority is buy resources as well as craf t away. On the contrary my combat prof grinding provided me with a substantial extra amount of money. Let the combat re-allocate but not the craft!! or as a compronmise allow craft to exchange for other crafts and combat for combat. Keep it like for like which would be a whole lot fairer.

I agree that maybe trading crafting for crafting, combat for combat would be nice, I still don't understand your concept of fair. What's unfair about someone who doesn't like combat but has two master templates trading them for crafting?

Crafting was alot more tedious to level than combat, but with the CU the crafting could be easier and quicker level.
Personally, i don't think we will get respecs, and i'm still not sure which way i would like it to go tbh. There's advantages sure, but crafting profs becoming flooded with repecers is a big worry of mine. Crafters are already going to struggle to find their new products, in a flood market its going to be twice as hard.

See, the way I see it, everything will be hard when the FU... er.. CU lands. I think everyone ought to get a chance to try out (with real players in real game) any template their previous leveling would qualify them for.
All of our resources are supposed to respec or be good as the are. I've got several stockpiles I've been sitting on, and don't think I'll have any trouble crafting items post-CU. I do think the market will be flooded by folks who currently have crafting in their template. Prices are going to be all over the place until folks get a better understanding of what items are really worth.
Basically, I think we've all become temporary noobs until the dust settles.
