Suppose I want to make the best X in the galaxy, with X being your favorite food. I'm only DA IV at the moment, so every item except dough is 33/33/33 Flav/PE/OQ. Here is the quality challenge, as I see it:
1. Food depends on 3 of the attributes of a resource. Do other classes have this as well? It is very tough to get a good resource (better than 800 rating). Most of the guns and armor I've seen depend on only two attributes.
2. Each planet has totally different organics, and there are 10 planets! Very tough to track even a small portion of these. On the other hand, planets share inorganics. This is both an advantage and a disadvantage if the resource attributes are random, i.e., we have a better chance of getting some top quality stuff (it's just harder to find).
3. It is very difficult to tell if half of the organics have changed! With inorganics, I can always just pull up the survey tool to tell if a resource exists. You can't do this with bones/meat/hide; you just gotta ask your scout friends to look for you.
Ahh, the challenge. Compared to us, armorsmith/weaponsmith/architects are weenies! :-) Anyone wanting to start an ingredient information sharing network on Bloodfin, /tell Thrombus!

Another pain, is that each planet has a different organic...where as inorganics are galaxy wide the same (according to the name, for example you can find a particular type of gas or metal etc on multiple planets)

There is a very nice resource database at swgcraft.com. You can search for resources on your planet and server, and submit updates and verifications to the list.

The single best organic in the game is a fungus on Corellia. Icieth, or something like that. OQ 996 FV 902 PE861. Every harvester I own is sucking this sucking this up as fast as I can before the resources shift again.
