Thread: An idea: foraged Items as socketed boosters

Here's an idea to take advantage of the power of foraged goodies, which can benefit both the scouts and the chefs:

Make the foraged items "socketable" similar to how gems help boost tailored goods. I always thought when my character found a particularly good piece of wild fruit that it was a shame that I couldn't enhance my recipies with it. Food wouldn't necessarily REQUIRE the rare items (i.e. the elusive milk & eggs) but an optional slot for a booster of foraged berries (or worms!) could enhance an otherwise mundane snack or beverage.

The game has already set up a template for this kind of crafting. The benefits of the foraged items should assist if not completely transfer its attributes to the new food item.

This would allow for more custom food items, and another reason for scouts and chefs to interact.

That sounds like a nice, feesable(feasable?) idea to me. I haven't foraged for full foods before(work? bah...give me the bazaar anyday), but I like the idea of recipes in general. More recipes i mean.

i will point out, that there are more important issues CURRENTLY of course...but i still like this one a lot.

yeah I wish all recipes came with an optional ingredient block, that would make things even more interactive.

I would love to see something of this sort implemented. Should be easy to add too -- just like bio-engineered components it would be optional.

I think it's a natural partly because most of the harvested materials come in single units only... so the boosters become a bit rarer. It also helps close that gap of frustration that the buffs gained by foraged goods by comparison seem tobe significantly better than much of the food that gets produced.

In my mind its a way to both strengthen the chef profession without compromising what the scouts are doing. It should be an easy fix, and it won't nerf ANYBODY.

I'll make another pitch for whole roated animals... a pet idea of mine (no pun intended.) If there was a way that a chef could get ahold of a whole carcass, and roast it in public, I think it would be a lot of fun. Particularly if you could name the food, as if a CH pet was being BBQ'd! OK, maybe not that, but I'm sure that a lot of non CH people would find it amusing... roast rancor! Medium Rare please!
