Thread: I'm Tired! Grinding has become a chore! No Fun Anymore!
I did purchase a factory on the advice of a friend but it is eating
my resources! There are a lot of hungry players and hungry pets! But I
am just getting sick of Crafting Food by Hand to produce any results!
I really like this game and I like the Idea of being a Chef! But this
is becoming more of a chore! The fun is just about gone! There are so
many other things that I want to Do, but I have to grind to make money
in order to do them!
Games are supposed to be Fun, but this is getting just plain stupid!
chef is not fun anymore for me either
its just making the same thing over and over and not gaining anything new and great as I spend my credits to buy a new skill either.. .its just almost pointless
Well, grinding is the Artisan way
I do keep myself entertained with other things though like traveling and light hunting. You have to experiment with your time to see what is fun for you...Do not be afraid to break the grind! You will level in time. There isno need to make Master Chef in one day, week, or month even. This game is not going away any time soon which gives you plenty of time for fun![]()

You should have enough skill points to pick up another profession. This will enable you to work on one profession one night, and the other the next night. For example I usually go out hunting when I'm not in the grinding mood, and make food when I'm not in the hunting mood. I have the best of both worlds now ![]()
My advice, don't grind. I don't. Then again, I plan to be a novice forever :-)
Seriously, I enjoy my time, I craft what I can, when I can, always striving for perfection. I spent the last two days trying to make the perfect biscuit. I've done it once before, but had trouble this time. Slow down, enjoy the scenery, enjoy the people, forget the grind, and you will have fun.

Ideally, a chef should be striving to make the perfect drinks and dishes. I'd love to travel to distant planets and research their unique organics, and place a harvestor when I find something particularly good. Then form a stockpile of high quality ingredients that I can use later.
Then I would experiment until I make a great schematic to later be placed in a factory to be mass produced and later sold in my restaurant. I think of a factory as my sous chefs and kitchen workers. You know...as a chef you come up with the recipe (schematic) but don't do all the busy-work yourself.
The resource and experimentation system areto complex in this game it could really be a lot of fun. In another threadI was reading about proposed Iron Chef competitions...things like this would be hilarious!
Of course right now, unless you want to makebotched experimentson blap biscuits and wastril breads, the grind is ... inevitable. The factory exp change was, in my opinion, a cruel nerf. The wayit is now I'm having a lot more fun cooking in real life than in this game!
My problem is that I feel that all the new schematics I get at novice chef are practically worthless to me. I had aspired to be a bartender, making starshine suprise and other alcoholic beverages along the way. Now I find out that chef bonuses to assembly and experimentation dont transfer to starshine suprise, I dont get any xp for making starshine suprise, and most of all - most of the 6 new items I can craft are not as good as things I can make at artisan level. This coupled with the knowledge that I have to grind away 32000 XP worth of wastril bread just to gain the next level have really sapped all the fun out of being a chef.
Maybe I should just give up crafting, and become a bounty hunter like everyone else :/

Well, the way I see it is, pretty much unless you have Cooking 4, or 3 or even 2, chef is pretty lousy compared to Domestics 4.
I myself have just finished grinding to Mixology two, straight from novice (1069 wastril breads!) in a total of 5 hours of grinding. Even with harvesters, I supplemented the resources that I needed from bazaar buys.
I'm also a pistoleer who does advanced planet missions too to cure boredom and significantly increase my income flow.
All in all, from the time it took me to go from novice artisan to mixology two, probably about hmm 8 or 9 hours of pure grinding. Lotta clicking but now I'm probably selling the only Tatooine Sunburns on my server. Of course I think I might've overcharged at 1k for 2 charges and 650 for the 1 charge, but oh well, it's only been a few hours since I've posted them on the bazaar.
But yeah if you role play, eh there really isn't much to look foward to in Novice chef aside from serving more expensive food and drinks hehe. But if it's conciliation for you, you can go for the Tat. Sunburns and try and sell those.
I've grinded to architect and weaponsmith before, it sucks yeah but oh well. In all that I've done, grinding to chef was the easiest grind compared to architect or weaponsmith. If you want some advice on general crafting xp grinding, try selling travel packs. They yield 140 or 150 xp and you can sell 'em on the bazaar for a nice profit, for me it's 750 or rarely 800.
For foodcrafting xp, well, all I can say is Wastril Breads hehe or possibly Deuterium-Pyro drinks from Mixology one. They yield 100 xp per combine, 105 with practice. They also only take 45 resources as well. so it's significantly more worth it than other recipes. Plus it's in Mix. one so you're just one box away from Tat. Sunburns too =)
Have fun.
