Thread: Disgruntled new Novice Chef on Flurry.
Well, it's all been said before, but I didn't feel I would be justified in quitting unless I had voiced my opinion at least once about how disappointed I am having finally reached Novice Chef, (been playing pretty steady since release, but I have a job and a life). The Chef foods are extremely disappointing relative to Domestic Arts IV, and I would be forced to make cruddy food and drinks to "advance" in my "profession." I bought SWG specifically to play a chef/bartender, but there really doesn't seem to be much point. I don't know if Flurry is just a lame server, but I can barely even move Noodles, Ruby, Aitha, and Starshine, etc. at prices that don't lose *too* much money, so the prospect of making even worse buff foods over the next months has me so disaffected, I am probably quitting after my first paid month (1 month from now). I advertise, socialize, experiment, and use850+quality ingredientsand charge 1-1.5 cred/material for the "good" DA IV, III foods and my foods mostly languish on the bazaar except for a few purchases from friends who take pity on me. Who the heck is going to buy my Wastril Bread or Charde? SWG is probably a lot offun for Creature Handlers (and them for probably only another week or so), but the Chef profession is so badly broken, I'm about through.

I think thats how chef should work
I dont think it should be balanced out to where a lower level chef food is the best and the higher levels are just okay.. or situational.
The professions isnt like the other professions but , it shouldnt be like a weapon smith where the lower level scout is the best crafted weapon.. The chef should just get beter and beter versions of the buffs as the advance
example of what I mean.

Fictional food item not actually in the game only putting it here to help make sence of my point.

that way the food in the same family of the first food increase the effects as it goes up the tree so yes that new food will always be beter just more expensive to craft.
you are doing something wrong. i sell food on flurry. i base my price on the total pts buffed and duration, but if i had to guess its probably about 10 cred per unit of resources. i sell 90% of what i make.
in fact, if i see any sort of food/drink selling for 50 or 100, i usually buy it and re-list at double or triple.
I'm on Corellia, is that my problem? I seem to be one of two Novice Chefs on the planet. Again, I use only 800+ quality materials. My Starshine is 100-110 credits, my Noodles are 80-85, my Ruby is 80-85. I am friendly to everyone, and have a 5 sentence macro'd advertisement that I run, complete with emotes when I'm near terminals or the bazaar two or three times a day. My lack of sales isn't my biggest complaint - I have a few customers that appreciate my Noodles and Starshine. My big problem is that the Chef foods stink so much. How hard is it to work out a formulae as to food buff progression based on skill level - the Chef profession is a textbook example in poor game design, and it's really disappointing. I'll stick it out another month (and maybe change planets), but I'm not very hopeful. Thanks for responses.
