Thread: Sorry to ask again, but I need help with Sunburns & Factories
1. I go and create a schematic for 50 Starshines.
2. I upload the schematic into the factory.
3. I upload Rice, Copper, and Reactive Gas.
4. I start the factory.
.....time passes...
5. The factory is done and has created two crates of Starshines.
6. I split up the crates into 50 individual Starshines.
7. I move the 50 Starshines into the factory ingredient's hopper along with Reactive Gas.
8. I upload a schematic for 25 Sunburns.
.....time passes...
9. I get an email stating nothing was manufactured.
Now, I did notice something last night when detailing the schematic for the 25 Sunburns...it listed two serial numbers for the required Starshines. The Starshines I got from the creates did not have the same serial number as the number requested by the Sunburn schematic. I'm figuring this is the problem.
I'm sure I'm just missing some stupid step since other Chefs are creating crates...can someone help me out here or see my error? If the Sunburn schematic is actually asking for a specific serial number Starshine, how can I intentially match it up with the Starshines I'm producing? Or does that not matter?
Thanks for all your help.
1. You get all the XP
2. Its faster
3. you get the stacks
The factory is only useful for making base components until they fix em :/
I'll likely try this out this weekend, but for now I'll just do them by hand for the reasons above (I'll even do the starshines since I can use the domestic XP for merchent)

No you can't. Merchant Novice takes Merchant XP. You begin accruing that when you place a vendor.
I have no problems with sunburns in factories...the Xp's not great enough to warrant the time it takes to pump em out manually IMHO. First make a schematic for 100 starshines name them "part A" or something...run that. then make another 100 starshines schematic named "part B" and run that...when both runs are done move all the crates to your ingredient hopper (you can have both hoppers open so ya don't have to empty your inventory) Remove 1 of each starshines and go make a schematic for 99 Sunburns. You have to use the exact same components for the factory to work.
BTW...what's the going rate for 1 shot of Sunburn on Starsider?

Here's the way factory crates work in the input hopper:
If you take an item OUT of a factory crate, it WILL NOT work in the ingredient hopper of your factory. As long as the crates do not have anything removed from them, they work like a charm.
This is why runs of >100 of subcomponents works so nicely. So you could craft 102 synth cloth from a 1000 schematic and use those 2 in their own crate to make the schematic. Then use the 100 in the 4 crates of 25 to make your final product.
If you have to take some from a factory crate and still want to use those resources in your factory, you have to empty out the crate and put each item into the input hopper separately. It'll work in that case too.
Point is, crates that have not had anything taken out of them work like a charm. They don't even need the max number of items (25 or 50). Just as long as you haven't removed an item from the crate.
DrKeith: yes that's exactly what I do.
My factory hardly ever gets a moment's respite, because if its not making starshines for my sunburn, its making dough, souypro, or carbosyrup which I use a lot of too.
I wish the chef's on our server would stop selling crated goods... it's really annoying explaining to every customer why I dont make crates.
Also, now I managed to find some reactive gas from ana older resource shift, so I can make stacks of 8 again
While others are selling crates of 25 that take 2500 resources, and 5 inv spaces, I sell 5 stacks of 8, for 500 resources, and 5 inv spaces... Their loss I guess.
