Thread: Why is chef xp so screwed up?

I've been crafting since beta, through master artisan, to weaponsmith.. medic... Now I'd like to become a chef.

I hit Novice Chef and then what? The xp I get from the stuff that people actually want is crap, and the only way to even THINK of getting decent xp is to Grind out Wastril??? WHY is it this way?

I despise rewardingmindless grinding as do most crafters that enjoy making something useful, but yet it seems like it's set up for rewarding and giving more xp to the mindless act of Grinding out Wastril.

I would LOVE to understand the brillaint member of the Dev team that mapped out the XP for this profession. This is so freakin sad I don't know what to think.

It's obvious that it's like this on purpose and it really burns me up how this game is being DUMBED down to preferring a grinding mentality to have the illusion of being skilled at a profession.

It's old.Lame, I can only hope that it will be changed at some point in the future. Every where I turn lately I find out how lame and rediculously mindless the preferred path for experience is.

True, it really sucks how we only get 70XP and no one even wants the stuff we make most of the time.

The only thing they want it for is pet food or people want Tat sunburns.

Maybe it's chance but i have many customer now and my big order reach 500food and 500 drinks of all kind so don't be pessimistic because chef is a really good way.

I'm doing very well as a chef, though I really wish factories worked... I have to spend about 1-2 hours a day grinding food, but make daily income of 100K or so...

As far as XP goes, all game dev's have a few choices:

1) Make the requirements reasonably low, so casual players can get by, and master in a couple of weeks

2) Make them high, so that the grinders wont reach master in a couple of days

3) Impose artificial limits(like xp per day, or decreasing xp the more you've gained in a period of time), to slow down xp grinders, while encouraging casual players.

Now the problems:

1) This choice isn't grinder proof. People will grind to master in a couple of days, and they will then have achieved their targets, and leave the game sooner due to lack of content. The devs want people to stay as long as possible.

2) Some people will get upset about too much effort and might quit. But casual players tend to not be botherred as easily.

3) This gets people EXTREMELY ANNOYED. Though it'd be the ideal solution, they'd be killing off a huge player-base's interest in the game, and it would be a financially bad idea.

Though the grind system sucks, it's financially the best solution for the devs to keep max number of players in game for maximum time

I got out my calculator today and figured that at 3 cr per resource, it will take well over a million credits to make Master Chef... and that's just the raw materials, not counting training.

I can harvest the resources myself, but with the flora farm schematics broken so that only small ones can be made, it will take a loooong time to gather that many resources.

It's seriously making me reconsider going any further in the chef tree. I can make Tat Sunburns, which is just about the only food anyone wants to buy, and I can make big stacks of bofa treats for their pets. Why kill myself going for Master?

I'd say increase the UXP you get from other people eating your stuff. Increase it a lot and make it work.

ya really, whats the point of training anymore after tatooine sunburn...may be food experimentation, other other stuff if you just want a title, but most of the money is in tat sunburns.

Grinding reminds me of EQ hunting... click click click click...............we needa more creative crafting process and making GOOD food needs to be more rewarding. Like i think if you make a great suces and you max out the stats in experimentation you should get a huge experience bonus, that would create more insentive for making food for selling instead of just practicing and waisting hundreds of thousands of credits in resources.

like just to make mix 1 you need to make almost 500 wastril bread! **edit**! who REALLY wants to sit down and click on boxes all day!

Devs: you need to make crafting more fun

If you're in the job for the money, you chose the wrong one. Surrender all your skills and go weaponsmith now. You'll do just as much grinding, but you'll make more money. Sunburn is gradually dropping in my sales %'s and I'm getting a lot of sales of vercupti of agazza boleruee and corellian fried ice cream(strong willpower/focus buffs). The stat buffs may not be as strong, but: mind, unlike action and health, cannot be healed. So providing these to riflemen and doctors can be very lucrative.

Spend some time to see what people need. Try varying your sales a bit... I know I'm really bored of sunburn, and even though its most lucrative for me to make, I try to introduce people to other buffs and generate interest in them.
