Thread: My most recent vein-exploding frustration with this class...

Ok guys, we all know our food and drinks are sad jokes, but it JUST KEEPS GETTING WORSE.

I spent all weekend grinding up the experimentation tree. All weekend. I made it. I'm a Culinary Master. Woo let the rejoicing begin.

You see, as we all know, even though our buffs are weak, you *can* sell food & drink to the sympathetic public (I get so many encouraging remarks when I wear my chef title) if ONLY IT LASTS AT LEAST 5 minutes. This is the bare minimum to get through one fight.

My experience has been any schema that has that precious 300s + duration, is a viable food to sell.

Trouble is we have SO many schema's that are in the 100s duration range. Therefore my dedication to the experimentation line in order to increase this important attribute.

So now that I have nine precious experimentation points (and enough food assembly skill that I actually don't damage my food) I went to work on a couple of our foods to see what kind of difference I could make.

And thats where I smacked into that big wall of frustration thats made out of the discarded bodies of former chefs, and I'm about to leave my body there as well.

Placing ALL my experimentation points into duration (which of course leaves quantity and effect totally gimped), I can modify total duration by perhaps 20 or 30s. Yes, you read that right. 20 or 30s. I can double or triple the effect. Usually double the quantity. But my ability to modify the most important attribute is almost negligible.

ARRRGH. No matter how hard I try to make this pathetic class work it just bites me in the butt. A total, complete waste of a weekend.

Ssauron, signing out.

How was the quality of your foods as far as over all quality and flavor?

And I sympathize with you.

I'm actually pretty upset because I was making Sunburns out of a 700 overall quality gas that has dropped to a quality of at max 300. So now my sunburns come out like crap, since the experimentation for the component doesnt factor in.

That's when I went to Anchorhead and ran rebel deliveries for a couple hours to get things off my chest.

Oh I thought up a new theory:

We are not the most broken class, but we are the most demoralizing.

Ssauron, certain schematics do not allow you to have high flavor. Those I can't raise duration much. But I've been able to double, sometimes nearly triple certain durations. For example I regularly make Veghashes that last 240 seconds instead of the usual 100s. Felbars and Ormacheks are other stuff that go up in flavor quickly.

If you ever want to chat about it, create a char on Scylla and come looking for me. I'm usualy on Naboo near my shop (1000 1530)

maybe if we get that guy from "The Restaurant" reality show (isn't his name Rocco??) to complain to SOE, they'll ungimp our crafted food.

Actually, I have this theory that they perposely left food buffs nerfed (as well as food crafting exp) at launch time, to see how everyone setup their stats, etc...to see how they needed to balance out chef.

Its funny though cuz as a chef/bio engineer, chef seems more bug-ridden even though it was always a profession (where BE used to be 'farmer' about 3 weeks before game launch).

I'm just glad I'm only specializing in mixology (and maybe a little experimentation).

I think a number of schematics have Flavor still pointing to some long since deleted attribute. There's no other reason so many of them seem to have very minor boosts to flavor, yet a few do have it as a fully adjustable stat.

If and when I make master, I'm going to go through the list and make notes on EVERY schematic. If you'd like to help with this, please donate 4K Wheat or 2K Corn to Doc Hollandaise of Starsider, for another run of 100 Practiced Ithorian Mists. (I'm kidding.. I have enough to do another 200 or so horded, but I hate using the current Corellian Wheat to grind, it's got two 800+ stats!)

I feel your pain, I've given up on durations and just got for quality or quantity.

I can't sell anything but sunburns for much of a profit, though people sure do love those.. even if only 6 mins.

Yeah I've officially given up on experimenting with durations too, they seem to be the toughest to move.
