Thread: Catering on Starsider
I'm hosting an event on Starsider called "Dantooine, they're on Dantooine". I'm thinking of holding a big party.
The event will take place Friday October 24th at 7:00 PM EST, in protest of a massive continuty break. I'm looking for caterers for the event. I'd really really prefer it if you where Imperial, or had an imperial buddy who can be a waiter/waitress for the event. The event will be mostly for imperials, with some neutrals and covert rebels showing up.
The location is the "Abandoned" rebel base on Dantooine. I believe the coords for it are -6948 5432 but if you contact me in game at

I can forward you more info.
So let the bidding war begin. I'm not sure on many people will show, but I'm hoping it'll be a pretty big event. Post below if you'd prefer to get a bill prior to the event or after, if you'll charge per sale or just a flat price and if you will ask the customers to pay anything extra. I may have to have a door charge to cover catering and the band, so I want to know how big it is. Also post your current level as a chef, obviously I'd prefer master chefs, but if you think you can assist in any way post below.
Thanks,
Alexan Drite

In summery I'm looking for:
High level Chefs
Can trade to overt imperials relatively easilly
Is cheap
can cater to a big event.
If you need help getting across dantooine I can escort you to the base, so Combat skills are not required.
Looking this over, I have some comments and advice
First, the comments:
Cook on demand for 100 people? Are you insane??
That is a lot to ask of someone. This would not, in any way, be cheap.
Bartending on demand for 10-20 people is extremely stressful in itself. I couldnt imagine the logistics of doing this
Our items don't pop out of the crafting tool right away, someimtes it can take upwards of a minute or so.
Also, having to stock every ingredient for anything someone could want? ouch time ![]()
My suggestions:
How it usually works is a Chef plans a menu in advance, and premakes the food to the Hosts approval, that way they can uncrate the food item, and distribute it immediately.
As for drinks, you usually premake the most popular items, and bring enough stuff to hand make some special orders.
Offer to pay at least half in advance so the chef can buy the ingredients he does not have (This is not cheap, when you have to resort to buying 500 units of berries for 3000 credits on the bazaar for example)
I'm a chef, I think this is doable. I suggest catering show up a little early and start preparing certain foods. Say Two forms of entrees, a few drinks, and a desert or two.
I don't need high quality stuff, because I know food poisons. In fact if all you did was experiment on flavor(so more can be eaten) I'd be satisfied.
That's also why I suggest having a large enough staff to cook and to waiter out. I'm wondering who would be willing to do this, and how much it'd cost.
I'm going to give you two options:
1: Show up and hand serve the food yourself, cook it while the events going on, and cook specific orders.
*I'd pay more for this*
2: Deliver all the food, prepared, to me and some friends to carry it to the event.
*I'd pay a lot less for this*
You can have up to 24 food chem kits going at a time, but I don't think that's necessary(except on the extremely complex stuff), if you're good at it you can grind stuff out fast and in large quantities by hand. Or you can make it in a factory.
I like the idea of waiters myself, though I don't see anyway the Chef could do it (this is cheaply). I've catered two weddings (under 25 people each) and it was extremely stressful, even with a set menu, simply because of the [blankety blank] trade window. Instead of simply being able to drop foods/drinks onto people you have to wait for them to notice you and initiate a trade as well, not always easy in a sizable group. Ordering would be a must. That way the person would know it was coming. It's really a shame we can set foods out, drop them or something so that people can pick up what they'd like =/
Also, if things were going to be made on the fly, you need a crafting station - does there happen to be one where you're having the party? if not, the Chef needs a Food Crafting droid.
To keep it simpler, I think you'd probably be best off ordering your food/drink from someone (in crates)and hiring some entertainers, or others, to pass it out, maybe?
There will be plenty of droids there, my 3PO has a food chem inside it.
I was thinking perhaps there could be a buffet table with a line of chefs or waiters and people would line up and get the food they want at a set time. Or at any time, just there would be a line.
I was hoping that they might bring their own supplies and cook on demand on the spot. This is why they might need assistants to carry supplies.
I think this might be a big event, I'm spreading the word, posted some stuff across multiple forums and in event stuff. I'm working on getting entertainment. So a *big* event indeed. If I get numbers I'll post them, but I could easilly see a hundred people there maybe.
I actually did something like this a month or so ago. Someone needed a bartender for a RPing event, so I loaded up all my supplies and crafting droid and stood there for 2 hours making whatever was ordered (only missed on making 2 drinks due to lack of ingredients). This was for about THIRTY people and I was working constantly for 2 hours, only had room for 3 drinks in my inventory, without a drink, and was doing all this in character. I got paid about 35kcr.
You want this to go on for 3 times as many people, and want food AND drinks served? It is NOT going to happen, you sure can't afford to pay me enough to do something like that.
