Ok went back to the grind and got Cooking 3

Cooking 3 gives me 70 in food crafting and experimentation both.

Went back and tried to make a decent alcohol shcematic (complexity 16)

Tried 20 times w/out one great success (all were good or moderate)

If it is this difficult to get a decent result on a low lvl item how is it possible to get a good schematic on the higher lvl items.

For all you big shots out there with all theupscale info on the latest developments, intricate postings and charts: how bout a simple answer to this one?

Went back now with Cooking 3 (with food crafting and experimentation at 70 now) to try and make a decent schematic for Alcohol (complexity 16)

Tried 20 times i a row and still couldnt get a 'great success'

I'm still using the best ingredients, tools, and station

My results were 12 'good success's and 8 moderates

If its this difficult to create a decent schematic on on a low lvl component with Cooking 3 how can you possibly make anything decent that is high lvl?

For all you big shots with the upscale info on the latest develompments, intricate charts, and expansive exposition: how bout a simple answer to this straight foward question?

As far as I've been able to determine, the type of success you get depend on these things:

Your assembly skill (for the initial assembly success), your experimentation skill (for the experimenal successes), the complexity of the item (including any increase due to previous experiments), the number of experimentation points you assign for a single experiment, the effectiveness of your crafting tool, the effectiveness of the crafting station (if you're using one), and a bonus if you're in a player city with research or manufacturing specialization.

Since you're already going up the cooking skill branch, try checking some of the other variables. Use fewer experimentation points (one or two seems to work best until you get cooking IV), buy or make a high-effectiveness food/chem tool (they go from -15 to +15, try to find at least +14), and see about buying or borrowing a good private crafting station (they go from -45 to +45, public stations appear to be 0).

I switched from a +5 crafting station to a +40 and saw a pretty marked increase in my success rate. And using a +44 station in a research specialized city got me my first multiple amazing successes on a single item.

I'm actually starting to think that certain items are bugged or that I'm just the most unlucky person in the world. I dread making soypro (on live). A 'great' success is rare; 'good' success is the norm. I craft with a +14 tool, at a 43+ effectiveness station, one experiment point at a time as a chef with the master box filled in. Going to a research center makes it possible to get about half 'great' successes but it's still pretty rare. There have been a couple other items I've noticed this on, I'll have to start writing them down.

If you still get lousy 'great' success rates with the things that Kriles mentioned, please bug report it. (Just posting to let you know that it isn't just you having problems like that.)

Well i went back and got culinary mastery (cooking 4) and...

was finally able to make a few (+42% flavor/duration and nutrition in both categories) good schematics. Odd though that you have to have master culinary to make a decent novice chef cell item
