So.. after a lengthy period of time away from the game I came back a few days ago to check things out. After "grinding" the Spices end of Smuggler (once you get through Brawler it's a cakewalk) so I could sell Neutron Pixie and Muon Gold for a decent living, I decided to get back on the Chef grind and finish at least the bartender end of things.
Realizing I was going to need a lot more water than I had saved up, I took a few personal harvs with me and started surveying Naboo.
After four hours of full time surveying (using a speeder to help) the best spot I could find was 57%. I know some resources just never get very high concentrations, but I thought I could do better. I searched all over for info on this, but I had two main questions:
1.) Is it possible to find better water resource spots than 50-57%
2.) Do most people just skip the personal harvs nowadays? I can buy water off the bazaar for 3cpu.
Thanks!

Water does seem to be a "gradual" resource, where you have to travel for a ways to get a 5-10% increase in concentration. I don't think it's as bad as ore, which rarely gets above 50%. I've hit 70, 80, and even a few 90% spots for water. Although this will probably vary depending on your planet and the particular resource shift you're dealing with.
And personal harvesters are really only for artisans just starting out. The best cost/unit efficiency is probably with mediums, since you can get a 9-10 BER medium harvester that runs on 60 credits/hour and 50 power/hour. Heavies top out around 13 or so (maybe 14) for 90 credits/hr and 75 power/hr, although they are handy when you just want to slap down a single installation and get tons of resources. Although ifyou have the necessary engineering skills and aren't hurting on lots, a couple ofpersonals you crafted yourself on a good concentration will do you fine. If you can save up the 10-20k, I highly recommend getting a moisture vaporator (the medium water harvester).

Sounds like I need to get myself get my hands on a moisture vaporator and pop on over to Rori to see if my luck is better over there. Thanks again!

I find rori is the best place for water, perhaps not the best quality, biut on my server I can almost always find a good concentration, sometimes within spitting distance of my house, hehe. Right now Ive got my moisture vapourator down on a nice little 79% concentration, and thats pulling in all I need. I recommend rori a lot(just dont come there with your big stinking player cities, I like feeling isloated
).

I had two rate 10 harvesters, dropped them on a 75 percent spot of water on tatooine, 900oq. When it shifted out it changed to an 85 percent spot of water 990 oq. I haven't harvested water since (though I'm running a bit low, under 100k left now)

Well, another hour of surveying and best I could do on Rori is 59%
O well... I'll try again later tonight. Thanks for all the tips.
