Ok, I need some numbers here.

Who here can make a living selling food individually as opposed to crates?

PLEASE I do not want a discussion, I want numbers. If you want me to help chefs, just answer the question and only the question. You can discuss on other threads. Please. I am begging you this time. And I need as many people as possible to answer this.

I certainly can't as the income by selling bulk is key to my business.

Stacks only would kill as RL time spent loading vendors and sorting e-mails would force me to quit.

In addition, merchant issues are being addressed where they are proposing a cap limit on the number of items allowed to be listed on individual vendors.

Stacks only are, and never will be viable.

I do close to 10m a week in business. Make that 500k until I quit if I cannot crate stuff.

For you, I'll pop back *smile*

Not as a master, but while learning, this is exactly how I made my living. I crafted and sold singles while tending bar in the cantinas. My disclaimer is that city cantinas are not what they used to be. That being said, if you are not placed under the demand of customers it is possible. The trouble is that once you reach those highly prized items the damand increases dramatically and you are forced to go to mass production to keep your customer base happy. I made my living for a bit over 4 months with that approach - singles served from behind a bar counter.

In a round about way I made a living selling singles, I put singles on the bazaar with a note on them to come to my vendor to buy crates. Because of the singles on the bazaar I got more people to buy my crates.

But no, if I had to sell singles only, I don't think I would make a living. Crates are where the money is at. I used to keep both on my vendor, but now with the 150 item limit going in, and the wider variety of useful foods, I think crates will be the only way to go except for on the bazaar.

I do a similar thing. The money I make off the singles I put on the bazaar barely keep me even with maintainance costs for houses, harvs, factorys. Most of the money I make is from catering jobs (special orders) and off crates.

So my answer is no. Iwouldn't be able to stay in business for long just selling singles. Mass production for consumbles is where its at.

About 1-2% of my total income. I try to cater to the masses so I deal in crates. Any broken crates (crates less than 25) I put on my vendor at an inflated price. My usual customers come in and buy over 2 crates at a time. Sometimes 6-10.

I am not kidding on the 1-2% of my income. It is that miniscule. It will probably be able to cover my factory and house costs but definately not my harvester cost.

I plan on making my living on quality, high buff (nutritional additive enhanced), high yield singles. I don't think I'll make crates bigger than 5-10 items very often.

I have a vendor for stacks and a vendor for crates. The crates vendor is 97% of my sales and the stacks vendor is only 3%. So no the harvesters and factories woulds have to be shut down if I had to make a living on stacks.

Edit becuase I re-thought my percentages.

harvester maintenance = 75 cr/hr *24 hr*7 days/week*8 heavy harvesters = 100800

Power Cost = 150k units of power purchased at 2 cpu from a resouce vendor per week = 300000

Factory Maintenance = 75 cr/hr * 24*7*4 factories = 56700

Vendor Maintenance = 25*24*7*4 vendors = 16800

2 houses = 12600

Total weekly expenses = 486900 cr.

This does not include purchasing of any resources, which are anywheres from 6 cpu to 15 cpu normally.

On my server I am one of maybe 10 active chefs. We all currently get huge demand for our products. I currently service at least a couple hundred people. Even at that, I have to refuse business often. Should we have to sell in stacks, the time alone loading vendors would be prohibitive. Also, traveling to a far off vendor with enough stock to last a few days would be impossible. The income loss would be tremendous. The forthcoming limits on vendor filling would cause not to be able to put enough stock into vendors to last.

All of this assumes that our products are even going to be saleable and desirable. If they are not, i will go under. If they are, and demand is as strong as it has been, i still would not make enough money due to the logistical hardships involved by having to sell in stack sizes. I won't be able to meet my expenses.

I can not make a living selling without it being in a crate

I sell crates only. I don't put singles up for sale, and no one has ever asked me to.

I must anticipate since no one ever asks for singles (no demand) that I could not sustain my operation that way.
