Thread: Is this problem on your server?

Of of the members of our city told me last night that she didnt even know there were buffs like this except for spice. I was in AH the other night and was giving away samples of charde to try to stirr up business; only a couple even wanted it. Granted there is better stuff out there, but that is the best I can make at the moment for a mind buff. That drink alone has saved my *** 3 times from death. I keep it hotkeyed now to prevent or slow a mind incap geez 462 extra mind points is a heck of a "mind heal" in a battle. It seems that people dont know how to use food or what it can do. Is this a problem on your server?

Maybe I am just seeing this because all of the knowledgable customers already have a chef they go to, I just opened shop up this week and trying to get it going.

No, this is a problem I have heard a lot of people talk about.

As I keep saying, the profession is going to be getting a revamp pretty soon. I alrady talked to Q about doing a friday feature on food when the improvements come out, and he said he would.

I love Chef food to PvP with because I have no fear of a downer. Muon Gold of course is great, but I love Breath of Heaven and Angerian Fishak for drinks. Ryschate Cake too, keep that food coming.

I have noticed this issue exists on Starsider as well, at least in my limited experience. One of the things I enjoy doing is bartending. It helps to drum up business, as well as to educate the uninformed as to the benefits that our consumables can provide.

Sure do! Look Haunna up if you need training, shop's near Moenia.

And yes, I have the same problem as you. Food-cluelessness was bad enough before the stack bug, and before the secondary stat bug. Re-educating the server after fiascos like those is not easy. Heck, re-educating my guild is not easy... even they are leery when I pass out snacks on hunting trips. They still think of chef creations as "poison food" - suitable for uploading to bazaars in Imp-heavy cities to wreck their stats.

Hey SirVimes, that better be some darn good Friday Feature. Personally I think there should be an ALLOUT campaign to get EVERYPLAYER in the game to see the benefits of food. Some people don't even come to the SWG website let alone read forums.

A single chef can only do so much. I remember doing my addvertisements 3 days after Launch from planet to planet and I'd average about 3 to 5 people that wanted to see what I was talking about. Only 1 or 2 out of those groups would become customers. There needs to be a player poll now at least asking

"What is the the reason you do not eat food?"

  1. Effects too small.

  2. Durations too short.

  3. Costs too much.

  4. What are you talking about? I eat Muon all the time!

Hahaha, watch 70% of the poll be number 4.

Just looking at the way your food sells you can see it's a problem.

I put 4 berry wines up for sale on the bazaar. They sit there for 3 days and then one guy comes along and buys all 4 immediately.

All of our sales go to a very small population of people. I try to spread the word, but it's just such a hassle to deal with food most people won't do it. You can't find it easily when you're out running around and it's hard as hell to carry all of the individual items. There is no 'lunch box' easy to carry food bag.

I've only just started down the chef path, but I've always wanted to do it so I've tried to monitor the chef community both in general and on Sunrunner.

It saddens me to see that much of the time chefs are seen by the public as little more than a means to feed their pets.

Actual situation:
Two people talking about different food buffs in public.
Bystander: What are you guys talking about?
Chef1: Food
Bystander: What's that?
Chef2: ...
Chef1: It gives buffs like spice, but with no downer.
Bystander: /shocked Ooo! I didn't know there was such a thing.

I wouldn't have been concerned if the bystander were just an uninformed new player, but they had mastered a starting and two elite professions without ever knowing there was even such a thing as food buffs.

Yep...it is a problem...I've worked pretty hard to educate people when I can...

There's about 40 people that by from me off the bazaar regularly, in fact on weekends I have to live in the city to refill the bazaar. I stack BoH and Fishak exclusively on the bazaar (3k a stack). I add a WP to my vendor and tell them they can get it a bit cheaper there...but the same group of people keep cleaning me out, although I do pick up 3-5 new buyers a week. Some of them even go to my vendor.

I have 15 or so regular buyers at my vendor...so theoretically I touch less than 50 people weekly with my business. That's after a few months of chatting it up...heh sounds glum, but its really not all bad. I know several people I have talked to have gone to buy from other vendors as well...which is great! I can keep up right now...in another month I may have to quit working or just cut back on SWG.

LOL Syke.

I have kept myself at just a few items since hitting master. I only make Fishak, Ryshcate, BoH, and Sunburns. I do make the occasional special order item for good customers but thats it.

The main reason I do this is that I really can't stand trying to keep all of the different resources in stock, and by limiting myself I can concentrate on getting large quantities of the best versions of the resources I do use regularly. This allows me to make really good runs of my main sellers. I am really impressed with the chefs that can keep 8 or 9 different items on their vendors at all times /cheer.

I have problems giving away food on Gorath. i've been away from the game for 2 months...and aside from mounts and jedi (which I haven't seen) the games still in a sorry state. looks like another $14.99 wasted.

Yes, this is a problem on my server, as well. I have to thank my guild mates every day, because if it weren't for them, I wouldn't have any sales... I was looking at the manual for this game about food (I read it cover to cover on the first day the game came out, because the servers weren't up) and it has something to the effect of "Food is not required, but is very helpful to you." Wow. That's helpful... as was the rest of the manual, but that's another thread.

It's good to hear that a Friday Feature on food will be coming out. That might generate more sales and such... All I can say that if it wasn't for food, my character would be dead many times over.
