When you look at a resource and are trying to decide if its worth harvesting. What do you look for?
Lets take brandy for example, I am told it needs high PE, OQ. So ifI were trying to get berries for it, and im looking on SWG Craft, Ideally I would want 1000 in each spot. But, lets say there was 800s across the board, is that decent? 700s? 600s? Is it a combination of qualitys like as long as they add up to X?
Also, am I right in saying brandy needs mainly PE, OQ? How can I tell by looking at the percentages?

When comparing resources to determine which I should use when crafting, I do the following.
ASSUMPTIONS
1.) The item I am crafting has the following weights: 66% OQ and 33% PE
2.) Resource 1 has the following stats: 999 OQ and 300 PE
3.) Resource 2 has the following stats:800 OQ and800 PE
CALCULATION
According to the information above, our schematic gives the OQ stat a 66% weight and the PE stat a 33% weight. Does this mean that I should just get resources with the highest OQ and not worry about PE? Well, contrary to popular belief, you should look at the "rating" of the resource.
To calculate the rating for Resource 1, you perform the following calculation: 0.66 * OQ + .33 * PE
Substituting 999 and 300 for OQ and PE, respectively, results in a rating of 758.34
Doing the same to Resource 2 results in a rating of 792.
From these two calculations, we can conclude that Resource 2 wins!
MISCONCEPTIONS
Some people believe that you do not have to calculate the rating of a resources, but rather calculate the "stat sum." To calculate the stat sum, you look at which stats are weighted (in our case OQ and PE) and the simply add the two stats. Coincidently, the stat sums for our case still lead to the conclusion that Resource 2 wins. However, look at the following case.
Change the PE stat of Resource 1 to 500. This results in a rating of 824.34 and a stat sum of 1499. Keeping the stats of Resource 2 the same, results in rating of 792 (as we determined before) and a stat sum of 1600. In this new case, Resource 1 wins, even though Resource 2 has a higher stat sum.
So, is that stat sum calculation worthless? Not always. In fact, when stats are weighted equally, the stat sum can be used to determine which resource is better. If you don't believe me, change the OQ and PE weights to 33%. Calculate the rating and stat sum of both resources in both cases. You should conclude that the stat sum can be used to detrmine which resource is better when the stats have the same weight, but ratings should be used to determine which resource is better when stats have different weights.
CONCLUSION
The math never lies, unless you make an arithmetic error
Hope this helps

For most resources, if you don't have a base to compare you have to shoot from the hip. Brandy, being the standard for comparison, usually requires high stats in all areas, though DR can suffer on the berries if the fruits have a high DR.
Brandy is an exception though, most foods don't have such strict parameters for duration/buff/filling, so if you lack good PE for buff size, it can be made up for with duration. Ahrisa is a perfect example of this. There is a mix of duration/buff, and it doesn't have strict customer set parameters like brandy.
So to answer your question, I look for the use of the food and compare it to my current resources to find what I need. Some foods don't take certain stats, and some have such strict limits that a high PE(for example)wouldn't make a big difference over a low PE. You can also hit a limit, like with 100+ Havla, so having any higher wouldn't matter.
Its all a comparison game. I suggest getting a base of organics, make some stuff, then see what you need to fill in. Since there are 2+ organics for most foods, you can makeup for a low stat in onefloral for a high stat in the other floral.

I think most chefs get this from BEs. They are 33/33/33 qo/pe/fl for nutriant tissues so a stat sum works for them, chef however is never like that and as you said stats sums are inacurate for our foods

I will say I like the stat sum, though. Little easier to calculate, especially when comparing lots of resources. However, after you've crafted enough, I guess you can quickly judge what is good or not without doing any calulations.
