Thread: Food vs buffs
Well, food has a bunch of benefits that you don't get with doc buffs:
1) You can take food anywhere. If you're out in the middle of Dathomir when your doc buff wears off, you're out of luck (unless you've spent the 111 skill points for 0440 doc or 143 SP for MD).
2) You don't need any skill point investment in anything to use food. You can just buy a crate, and off you go (unlike buff packs where you can buy high-level ones, but still can't use them unless you have the appropriate med use).
3) You can stack food buffs with other food, provided you have enough stomach space. Vercupti (the +1000 H/A/M food you saw) can be made with 50 filling, and while the power of "Double-buff" Vercupti isn't quite as high, you can still get roughly +1800ish after taking two (and I'm sure I'll get chefs more experienced with DBV laughing at my pathetic estimate). You can ony have one doctor buff to a given stat at a time.
4) You can stack food buffs on top of other buff types. So our stuff works on top of buffs from entertainers, doctors, and smuggler spices.
5) Food buffs more than just stats. After the chef revamp, we pretty much got put in the middle of the stat buff power (under docs, maybe under entertainers, above spices), but were given things like Synthsteak, Thakitillo, and Jawa beer to make up for it.
Food is definitely useful (I think our customers spending 200k -1000k per week at our vendors pre-JTL showed that), and doesn't have to be the "uberest".
Vercupti is not meant to replace doctor buffs, it is an emergency buff to get you out of a bind.
I'm confused...so confused
